April 3rd, 2018
Mayor Miguel Pulido and Councilmembers
City of Santa Ana
20 Civic Center Plaza
P.O. Box 1988, M31
Santa Ana CA, 92701
Ve.L,A,,t
RE: Support — 20A Appropriation of Funds for the Completion of the 6th and Lacy Park
Dear Mayor Pulido and City Council Members,
Vecindario Lacy en Acci6n (VeLA) is a group of residents from the Lacy neighborhood that
have united to advocate for their community. The group includes: mothers, fathers, students,
individuals with special abilities and community leaders that share the vision of improving the
quality of life in their neighborhood and the city of Santa Ana. All with the purpose of creating
more opportunities for families to succeed.
We constantly hear from out neighbors and our children that more open space is needed which prioritizes
and programs outdoor activities for middle and high school age youth. This is why we worked with City
staff in the past year to engage our neighbors. With our assistance, over 70 of our neighbors, including
adults and children participated in an input meeting and provided shared our vision for the park on 6" and
Lacy. We have consistently made a recommendation for open space that will serve as a place for
our children to play in a safe space. Our recommendations have included skate amenities, a
playground, and a bathroom.
We see the development of a new park in our Lacy neighborhood as a necessity for everyone in our
neighborhood. We remain committed to and look forward to continue to work with residents. City
staff, and local stakeholders to ensure that we collaboratively develop a blueprint and
programming plan for open space in Lacy that will improve the quality of life for residents.
Sincerely,
Vecindario Lacy en Acci6n Members
