NS -2943 - AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA AMENDING SECTION 10-152 TO THE SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE RELATED <br />TO POLICE CANINES TO EXPAND THE DEFINITION OF THE CODE TO POLICE ANIMALS <br />In summary, the ordinance would expand the protections for Police Canines to include all Police <br />Animals, including horses. These revisions will allow the Police Department to enforce willful, <br />malicious or harmful actions against the police horses that proudly service this community. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Approval of this item supports the City's efforts to meet Goal #5 - Community Health, Livability, <br />Engagement & Sustainability, Objective #1 (Establish a comprehensive community engagement <br />initiative to expand access to information and create opportunities for stakeholders to play an <br />active role in discussing public policy and setting priorities). <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />There is no fiscal impact associated with this action. <br />Maria D.
