Council discussion ensued. <br />• Councilmember Solorio expressed concerned with parking; and Interim <br />Planning and Building Agency Candida Neal shared the following: <br />■.Project complies with MEMU Design Principles, <br />and supports goals and objectives of the City's <br />Strategic Plan- <br />■Setback variance supported - Purpose of <br />'increased setback is to provide Fire Authority <br />access: The required 10 ftp setoackwould restrict <br />fire access and• render project infeasible. <br />■ Parking variance not supported.- Street parking <br />does not exist, overflow parking'is very, limited in <br />vicinity, the 2 spaces per unit will satisfy parking. <br />demand for project and will minimize, potential <br />parking problems, in area. <br />• Councilmember Sarmiento, expressed opposition to continuance for more <br />than two weeks. Expressed concern as to the staff recommendation being <br />changed, applicant being treated unfairly, and potential for economic <br />development suffering. Moved to continue item two weeks. <br />• Councilmember David Benavides, expressed opposition to continuing <br />project.
