REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />MAY 1, 2018 <br />TITLE: <br />AWARD PURCHASE ORDER TO <br />RACEWAY FORD FOR FOUR <br />MAINTENANCE UTILITY TRUCKS <br />(NON -GENERAL FUND) <br />(SPECIFICATION NO. 18-011) <br />(STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 6,2) <br />r-yaw/bil <br />CI ANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 1s' Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize a one-time purchase and payment of purchase order to Raceway Ford for the <br />purchase of four Ford F-350 trucks with utility body in the amount of $227,415, subject to <br />nonsubstantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Finance and Management Services Agency, Facilities, Fleet Maintenance and Central <br />Stores Division is responsible for the acquisition, maintenance, repair, and replacement of <br />vehicles, trucks, and maintenance equipment. The Public Works Agency Water Resources <br />Division is responsible for providing safe, high quality drinking water and proper sewerage <br />services for the City's residents and businesses. The Water Resources Division is in the process <br />of filling vacant Water Quality Inspector positions whose duties include the collection and <br />transporting of water samples, responding to customer water quality concerns, performing cross - <br />connection inspections, and Fats, Oils and Grease (FOG) Program inspections of food service <br />facilities. These positions require daily use of a truck with a utility body to store and transport <br />tools, equipment, and supplies to provide ongoing maintenance, testing, and inspection of the <br />City's water and sewer infrastructure. Without these trucks, the Water Quality Inspectors will not <br />be able to perform their duties. <br />The Notice Inviting Bids was advertised on January 30, 2018, on the City's online bid <br />management and publication system.
