DISCUSSION The Mayor and City Council represent the City's interest in regional issues by serving on a number of regional boards which make public policy decisions in the areas of transportation, water resources, fire services, and government facilities. The Transportation Corridor Agencies is a joint Powers Authority formed in 1986 to design, finance, construct and operate the three Orange County toll roads. The Agency is in the process of merging the San Joaquin Hills and the Foothill/Eastern Transportation Corridor Agencies under the direction of one board. The City's representative is Councilmember Tinajero and alternate is Councilmember Sarmiento. On May 21, 2018, Councilmember Tinajero tendered his resignation and Councilmember Sarmiento wishes to continue serving as alternate. Thus, a representative is requested to continue serving the interest of the residents of our community. Representatives must be an elected member and shall serve until removed or resign. The Board meets on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 9:30 .am. Mayor Pro Tem Martinez has expressed an interest in serving in that capacity, if approved by a majority of the City Council. STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT Approval of this item supports the City's efforts to meet Goal #5 - Community Health, Livability, Engagement & Sustainability, Objective #1 (Establish a comprehensive community 65D-1 Appointment of Representative to the Transportation Corridor Agencies June 5, 2018 Page 2 engagement initiative to expand access to information and create opportunities for stakeholders to play an active role in discussing public policy and setting priorities).
