Subject: Re: RE: Ammendement Application for Mater Dei Parking Structure Zone Change
Good morning Mr. Fregoso,
Some of the concerns I've heard from residents in the neighborhood east of Mater Dei (Pomona St, Shelton, and
Berkeley) is about the construction of a public alley east of the proposed parking structure. We feel that a Public
Alley, like many of the alleys in Santa Ana, will be a magnet for gang activity, crime, graffiti, illegal dumping, and
drug trafficking. I know the argument was to allow garbage trucks to easily turn around, but that has never been an
issue on Pomona and Stanford which were made a no outlet street in 2000. We feel that a Public Alley is not
necessary. This will also reduce the cost to the City of Santa Ana.
Thank you,
David Penaloza
