2. Close nominations for position.
3. The Mayor declares the result of the election.
DISCUSSION
Pursuant to Santa Ana Charter Section 405 and Municipal Code Section 2-101, the newly elected
council shall elect a mayor pro tem who shall act as mayor during the absence from the City or
disability of the mayor, or during any vacancy in the office of mayor until otherwise filled in
accordance with Section 403 of the Santa Ana Charter.
STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT
Approval of this item supports the City's efforts to meet Goal #5 - Community Health, Livability,
Engagement & Sustainability, Objective #1 (Establish a comprehensive community engagement
initiative to expand access to information and create opportunities for stakeholders to play an
active role in discussing public policy and setting priorities).
