Please support Solorio's Item 85C. We will do our best to support those who support 85C and oppose those who are against it. We will be paying very close attention to this, and we will spread the word among friends and neighbors as to how this item is voted on. We deserve safe parks for our residents and families. As Santa Ana residents, we should Not have to always take our children to parks in Tustin to feel safe and have a clean environment. Please choose wisely. I urge you to support directing staff to come up with such a program unless Council will be providing the details to this plan tonight in which case, you will have your hands full in the details. I also suggest that you support this item as part of a larger program to help with homeless, safety, and quality of life issues that are so important to the residents and business owners here in Santa Ana. I would hope that this private security parks program would not only be a discussion on providing security, but also the actual parks/areas that would be impacted, the expected coverage for parks during the day and night, anticipated powers that the security personnel would have, reporting mechanism back to the public, as well as expected end results. We are heading down a path of having bits and pieces brought before you in an attempt to improve Santa Ana. Each of these may on their own be worthwhile, but they will be much more effective and impactful when applied as part of an overall plan. Now, i would hate to have some low hanging fruit which can be applied quickly and effectively so I would not suggest waiting until we have the perfect comprehensive plan, but we do need to come up with a larger scale overall strategy and implementation plan to improve the quality of life and safety here in Santa Ana as well as addressing our homeless crisis. As such, I urge you to put together a comprehensive strategy for addressing these needs as well as the steps that are needed as well as the desired results and measurements of success. You are entering into the season where budgets are being considered and adjusted. Please consider putting additional funding to the areas that will impact the quality of life of the residents. Please also do this this as part of an overall plan and not just whoever is first to come to the table to ask for additional funding... the overall plan is important. We obviously have a lot of work before us (yes, I feel us residents are in this too), but with true leadership, it can be successful,
