Subject: Planning Department
I am appalled that the SA Planning Department is pushing the Planning Commissioners to
vote tonight on having a special meeting on Nov. 5th to determine the outcome of the 2525
Main Development. This will not give us enough time to review if our comments were
addressed and certainly won't be enough time for the Planning Commission to read the 3500
page document! A vote the day before the general elections!! It's clear that the objectives
of the builder are more important than the residents. This is not right.

Subject: Proposed 2525 N. Main Developemnt
Proposed Development at 2525 N. Main, Santa Ana
My concerns are the evident fast tracking of the proposed development at 2525 N. Main St.
The final EIR is scheduled for public release 10/26/18. If the Planning Commissioners decide
to vote on this project 11/5/18, that only gives the public 10 days to review it, submit
comments and Planning Commissioners to read the comments. I read the draft EIR and it not
only was an estimated 350 pages, it was obviously written for professionals, not layman. Of
course, I didn’t understand some of the technical, complex information, but just reading it took
me days. If the Planning Commissioners meet and vote on the project on 11/5/18 - one day
before the election of new City Council members, it makes the timing appear like the vote is
being pushed through so the current City Council members would be voting on the final
decision before they leave office. Is that intentional? the strategy?
Why the rush to make a decision?? It’s amazing how many people living in Park Santiago
have lived here between 20-45 years....so, we’ll still be here....no rush. Let’s make the right
decision for Park Santiago residents.

Please forward this to the Planning Commission & Staff
Dear Chair McGloughlin and members of the Planning Commission;
It is my understanding that an item will come before you this evening requesting an expedited
calendar for the approval of the above project. I would respectfully request that in the interest of
making an informed decision on a project of such a magnitude that you would reject this request.
Santa Ana bears the burden of far too many developments where a “rush to judgement” has
resulted in very poor planning decisions leaving our city hobbled for decades with the resulting
consequences for such hasty decisions.
If the project is as worthy as the developer feels it is……..then it will prevail on its own merits not as
the result of a process which has the potential to appear manipulated beyond measure.
Thank you for your careful consideration.
Sincerely,
Timothy Rush
