Dear Santa Ana City Council Members,
I write to you to implore you make masks and face coverings mandatory in Santa Ana, CA. According to the
Orange County Health Agency, the city of Santa Ana has one of the highest number of COVID-19 cases with a
total of 1,939 cases. You have the authority to protect the working class community in Santa Ana. Individuals
from the city of Santa Ana continue to be one of the most vulnerable communities comprising a majority of
Latinos/as, with migrant families. For these reasons, many community members do not have access to
affordable health care and have still been forced to hold essential jobs during the pandemic.
One way you can protect us is by making masks mandatory in the City of Santa Ana. According to the World
Health Organization, one of the ways to protect ourselves from COIVD-19 continues to be wearing masks/face
coverings. I have provided all the links to research and provided data below.

Subject:Mandatory Masks in Public Spaces
Mayor and City Council,
I am commenting in favor of maintaining a rule for mandatory masks in public spaces. COVID-19 is still an
issue and the virus is far from gone. Santa Ana has the highest number of cases in Orange County. How do we
expect to flatten the curve if we continue to act as everything is going back to "normal"? We need these public
health protections for the most vulnerable; the elderly, residents with respiratory diseases, residents with
weakened immune systems, children, and those who are currently experiencing COVID-19. Let's flatten the
curve, let's take care of each other. The safety of our community is in your hands. Decide wisely.
Thank you,
Maria Ceja

Subject:Making masks mandatory in public
Hello Mayor and Council,
I write to you today to urge that you make masks mandatory in the city of Santa Ana. Buena Park has already done this.
Santa Ana has the highest number of cases in the county and our community is disproportionately at risk because many
of us have to live in overcrowded living conditions and work essential jobs that require our physical presence and
exposure to the virus.
By making masks mandatory you will be protecting the lives of our residents, you and myself included. Many essential
workers have ongoing contact with the public at large, they can’t telecommute or take days off from work to avoid
exposure. The only was we can protect them is by making everyone wear a mask. In this way people who are infected
and possible asymptotic can’t pass on the virus to unsuspecting and unprotected service workers.
Let’s keep our community safe and healthy. Use your power to make masks mandatory, it’s the right and simplest thing
you can do to stop the spread of the virus!
All the best,
Mextli López
(Santa Ana Resident)

Hello,
Please advise if the rent waiver will continue after June. When do I have to begin paying my back rent back? Is CA still in
a state of emergency & will Santa Ana abide by the guidelines of State of CA?

Subject:Topic to please discuss or include on agenda - Parking in Santa Ana
Good afternoon,
I am a resident of Santa Ana. Our condominium complex is in dire need to street parking as our unit is not equipped with
enough parking spaces to accommodate resident vehicles. Currently many of our residents are unable to find parking as
many of the streets surrounding our condominium complex require parking permits, which we are told, we do not qualify
for. As a result, many of our residents are being ticketed. This has caused a huge financial burden on many of us. Please
help us find a solution.
Our complex is located at 1921 Sherry Lane in Santa Ana, CA.
Thank you,
Sonia Ruiz

Dear Council Members,
Thank you for all you are doing to improve our city. I can imagine it is very challenging to meet
everyone's needs at this difficult time.
I wanted to make a comment at your last meeting, but I didn't get a chance
as there were so many people commenting. I'm curious how we are
monitoring callers to make sure they are residents of our city.
Here are my comments:
I ask that you do everything you can to provide Internet for all of our
students.
It is critical that students have the tools they need to engage in their virtual instruction. It
broke my heart these past few months when we had students who had to stop attending
class because parents had to choose between feeding their children or paying for Internet
services.
Also, to protect our children and all of our citizens, I urge you to require face coverings in
all of our stores, etc.
Thank you again for all you do.

Subject:Repaving North Spurgeon Street
Follow Up Flag:Follow up
Flag Status:Flagged
Dear Mayor Pulido and Councilman Penaloza,
My name is Amina Abdal and my family lives at 1323 N Spurgeon St 5B, Santa Ana, Ward 2. I am a
homeowner and my concerns are below:
1. I am requesting the city to repave North Spurgeon Street between Washington Ave and 15th
Street. The surrounding streets appear to be better maintained. Our street has many potholes,
cracks, patchwork repairs, and is in bad condition. Will you please prioritize repaving North
Spurgeon Street during year 2020?
2. We hear illegal fireworks nightly for several hours. I have called the Santa Ana PD Fireworks Tip
Line several times but nothing has changed. Please advise.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Best regards,
Amina
