Dear City Council,
I am opposed to this item. This request from the Public Works agency for additional funds for
contracting/consulting services would not exist if the hiring freeze was lifted. Public Works has many vacancies
which were temporarily halted from being filled due to COVID-19. However, many of the projects that Public
Works needs consulting services for might be able to be better handled if Public Works was able to hire
residents to process the projects which have been backlogged and new projects. Please consider lifting the
hiring ban so that City agencies may begin to hire once again.
