I was pleased to virtually hear that you are concerned enough about the city to not blankly accept what developer Harrah is offering in order to construct his 37-story tower. Thank your for putting in more considerations of the community that will be very heavily impacted by this tower. Please do not send this project on to City Council at this time. With the current health issues around the world and here also, it doesn't seem like the right time to make big dissensions. I just heard that one of my neighbors who has been participating on this issue is now devastated by the death of her brother-in-law from the virus. The virus is so heavily effecting everyone both mentally and physically, that few are wanting to deal with city issues. Was two days enough time to do all the studying and research you wanted to do? Do you need more time? Wouldn't it be helpful to have an up to date EIR? The 16-year old EIR has many areas that need new studies done. This 37-story tower's affect need to be evaluated against today’s situations, not 16 years ago statistics. Harrah made some statements at the March 30th meeting and I want to know how the city is going to hold him to them. Is it with a Developer's Agreement? Items like including affordable housing in the tower and holding him to the offer of more money for the neighborhood's traffic mitigation which should include Logan, Down Town and Lacy Also, I feel there should be a requirement that local tradesmen are hired for the construction. Numerous studies have shown that access to parks is a key determinant in the overall health of a community. Adrian Bonepe, the Senior Vice President of The Trust for Public Land said, “You can’t have a great or good city without a great or good park system.” Santa Ana is park- poor with not enough green park space for the number of people here already. By adding 415 more living units the need just gets worse. Commissioners, lets get creative. In the mid-town area how about converting an asphalt parking lot, demolish a dilapidated apartment, or put a park on top of the tower's parking structure. Thank you for listening and use your deep consideration on how such a structure will effect the city and it's people and take the time to find ways to make it positive.
