PUBLIC COMMENT: Please read this email into the record.
I am Carl Benninger, a 41 year resident of Santa Ana, presently Vice President of Com-Link, Member of ETAC and by trade a Chemical Engineer.
I support this proposed change of converting some of the floors of One Broadway Plaza Tower from Commercial to Residential.
As Mr. Harris stated the tower building will be build on the site. The question is: will it be fully commercial or a mixture of residential/commercial. The battle of building the
tower or not is over. It is time to move on.
I would like to add that many of the points Mr. Harris made on Monday night I know were true. From the number of EIR's I have read and studied I know there will a reduction in traffic
by making this change. We can argue the percentage but it will be a significant reduction.
As mention on Monday night my son works for "We Work". A company which owns office space around the country. They rents/lease the space out as single offices, conference room etc.
In fact they own a total four floors in two different high rise buildings across from South Coast Plaza. The demand for the offices sharply increased with the completion of the condos
next to the Wyndham Hotel. A fair amount of their new clients live in those condos.
On Monday night Mr. Harris agreed to reserve some of the units to meet the affordable housing standards of the city. He has offered to increase the amount of funds to the surrounding
neighborhoods to improve traffic flow. And has offer to include the Lacy Neighborhood in the funding
Mr Harris is one of the few developer I know I can trust, He has been here in Santa Ana in the pass and will be here in the future.
So In closing I do ask the Planning Commission to approve this change at One Broadway Plaza.
