Subject: Planning Commission Public Comment for Agenda Item 3 - The Bowery Project
City of Santa Ana Planning Commissioners,
On Thursday, May 7, 2020, the City of Tustin received the April 27, 2020, Notice of Completion of
the Final EIR for the Bowery Mixed-Use Project and the Notice of the May 11, 2020 Planning
Commission Meeting.
As noted in the Final EIR for the project, the City of Tustin provided comments to the City of Santa
Ana on the Draft EIR for the project in a letter dated February 5, 2020. Given the significance of
Tustin’s comments and the inadequate amount of time needed to review the responses to
comments, which were received two working days prior to the Planning Commission meeting this
evening, the City of Tustin requests that the Santa Ana Planning Commission continue the public
hearing on this project to your next regularly scheduled meeting on May 26, 2020.
Although the Santa Ana Planning Commission is not the final decision maker on the Final EIR
or the project, the Planning Commission has a critical role in the review of significant
development projects, and your recommendation to the Santa Ana City Council is important
and should be based on complete information and input provided by affected agencies,
including the City of Tustin.
We appreciate your consideration of this request for a two-week continuance.
