Yes, climate change is real, but people are freaking out way to much about it. They’re misleading young people (such as Greta Thunberg) and making them think the world is gonna end in 10 years. I’m SICK of it. I’m writing to ask you to ignore all these paranoid letters asking you to “destroy fossil fuel use” in order to “save the world”. Of all the countries in the world, America is already in good shape. The air is already 60% cleaner than it was 40 years ago. How about we deal with the REAL problems in this country, such as racism, instead of freaking out about the “climate crisis” Thank you! 2 March 13, 2021 RE: Climate Emergency Resolution Honorable Mayor and City Council: Sierra Club California supports Santa Ana declaring a Climate Emergency, as have many cities in California and across the world. In fact the Club has posted a Climate Emergency webpage with dozens of j Climate Emergency Resolutions. In addition, here are some organized suggestions from various California jurisdictions, plus some from Australia, to help staff draft a resolution. But the most important thing is to implement the resolution through a comprehensive set of actions included in not only an updated Climate Action Plan and General Plan, but throughout all departments of the City. Sierra Club has compiled many examples of these actions in a large, multitab spreadsheet of implementations that are actually being done in cities. Other resources include Model Laws for Deep Decarbonization in the United States, which provides more than 1000 model and actual federal, state and local laws that can be customized and adopted in order to achieve deep reductions in fossil fuel use and greenhouse gas emissions. Some people may find useful a series of 7 videos Climate Basics. Some examples of actions could include: Reach Codesncrease energy efficiency and help people save more money on utility bills . Implementing SB 1383 actions to feed the hungry while reducing methane emissions from organic wastes. Reducing vehicle miles traveled (VMT) by making public transportation more robust and appealing, and improving safety for cyclists, pedestrians, skateboarders, and other users of active transportation. Driving Down Emissions illustrates examples of strategies that should be included beyond more electric vehicles for reducing transportation GHGs, such as encouraging compact developments that reduce the role of single occupant vehicles. Banning new gas stations. Between 2009 and 2019, the city had declined population, but increased th gasoline sales and gas stations. Recently, LawnStarter ranked the city as the 18 best city to own an EV. Endorsing the call for a global fossil fuel non-proliferation treaty. She is Mary or Maryam, the mother of Jesus. “And relate the story of Mary as mentioned in the Book” (19:17) Besides being identifiable by name in several Quranic verses, Mary or Maryam is also the only woman to have a Surah or Chapter in the Quran named after her. In both Christianity and Islam, Maryam is held as a model of piety and obedience to God’s will. In the Holy Quran, Maryam’s consistent faith and loyalty to God while facing various struggles, hardships, and temptations brought on by the material world makes her a prime example of devoutness for all true believers. At the inauguration of the Maryam Mosque in Ireland, the worldwide spiritual leader of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and Caliph to Messiah Ahmad, His Holiness Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad reflected on Maryam’s esteemed status in Islam by saying, “She developed a special bond of love with God, whereby Allah conversed directly with Mary and He Himself attested to her truth. She was most certainly an example for all true believers.” In the Holy Quran, it is stated that all true Muslims, male or female should develop the qualities of Maryam, highlighting the crucial and active role that she plays in Islam. Maryam’s qualities such as truthfulness, devotion, steadfastness, nobility, and purity are virtues that all Muslims strive towards. Maryam’s elevated status has existed since the beginning of Islam, and while Islam highlights the importance of several women, Maryam without a doubt is one of the most revered.
