RESOLUTION NO. 2021-044
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA APPROVING THE SANTA ANA PUBLIC
LIBRARY'S APPLICATION FOR FULL MEMBERSHIP IN
THE SANTIAGO LIBRARY SYSTEM
WHEREAS, the Santiago Library System ("SLS") is a state -funded network
consisting of the following full members: Anaheim Public Library, Buena Park Public
Library, Fullerton Public Library, Mission Viejo Public Library, Newport Beach Public
Library, Orange County Public Libraries, Orange Public Library, Placentia Library District;
Yorba Linda Public Library and the Huntington Beach Public Library.
WHEREAS, the SLS seeks to promote cooperation of library collections and
services so as to meet the informational, educational, cultural and recreational needs of
all residents of the Orange County area.
WHEREAS, membership in SLS provides access to potential funding pursuant to
the California Library Services Act.
WHEREAS, the Santa Ana Public Library is currently an associate member of SLS
and desires to become a full member which would provide access and opportunity for
potential state funding. The Santa Ana Public Library is the only municipal library in
Orange County that is not a full member of the SLS.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Santa
Ana as follows:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana approves the Santa Ana
Public Library's application to become a full member of the Santiago Library System and
delegates authority to the City Manager and/or the Executive Director of the Library
Services Agency to execute any documents necessary to make such application.
Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by
the City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting
this Resolution.
