Good afternoon Commissioners,
As a frequent traveler through the intersection of Tustin Ave &
Santa Clara,
I agree with Mr. Tardif's comments. As a resident and Chairman of the
Portola
Park and Meredith / Parkwood neighborhood associations ( which
includes
the site for this proposal ) I would much prefer to see something that
would
be a true benefit to the community.
I have lived in this area for many years and I can tell you that a gas
station was
operated at this location previously and failed. The same is true for the
North / East
corner of Tustin Ave & Santa Clara where the new Starbucks is located.
There are plenty of Gas Stations located in North / East Santa Ana.
What we have
now is a shortage of new businesses that will benefit the City of Santa
Ana and
serve the BEST interest of the community most impacted by this
location.
I encourage you to please vote No on this project.
Thank You,
Winston R. Covington

Re Agenda Item 3 – Service station & convenience store at Santa Clara & Tustin Ave.
Commissioners,
I am opposed to the gas station & convenience store at the corner of Santa Clara & Tustin Ave.
A. Convenience stores attract transients, vagrants & homeless – we deal with this problem in our
neighborhoods now, we don’t want to make the situation worse.
Until the City of Santa Ana gets the homeless situation under control I don’t believe that
convenience stores should even be considered - throughout the City.
B. Gas stations increase traffic – to allow driveway entrances & exists so close to that corner will
cause traffic collisions.
C. That corner would better serve the community as a site for a neighborhood restaurant – or
perhaps a Baskin Robins ice cream store & a Wahoo’s Fish Tacos restaurant.
There are many available uses for that corner which are less damaging to the surrounding
neighborhoods.
Thank you,
Mike Tardif
