In regards to the above referenced proposed development I write in support of the item. As a long
time resident of Santa Ana, and a former resident of French Park in particular I believe this will be an
asset to the neighborhood replacing a facility that is not fully utilizing its potential. Northgate is a
respected local member of the Santa Ana business community and has a great history providing jobs
and opportunities for local residents. The proposed development is well appointed and highly
finished and will be a beautiful addition to the downtown. It will improve greatly two blocks that are
highly visible and I think it will spur further positive development in the area.
Housing in this location is in line with the vision of the Transit Zoning Code and for this reason it
should be carefully considered as well. The public art that is proposed for this project is quite
stunning as well.
I don’t foresee unfavorable impacts to any historic or cultural resources with this project and this is
an important consideration in this part of town which is so rich with historical treasures. Topping
out at seven stories and then stepping down as it moves north and east shows that the scale of the
project acknowledges the development fabric of which it is apart. I am especially pleased with the
parking at 2.33 stalls per unit to diminish neighborhood impacts.
The community needs this project given how we have been so impacted between the Covid
pandemic, the trolley construction and the general economic downturn. Please consider supporting
this project as I do.
