Subject: General Plan Postponing
Good afternoon,
My name is Yesenia Juarez and I am asking you to please delay the general plan process! In my and many other
people’s’ opinions, there has not been enough community engagement. The community’s concerns have not been
addressed and there is still lots of work to do. The current plan hasn’t been updated for THIRTY years. I personally
wouldn’t even know that this plan was occurring if it wasn’t for members of my community.
Here are some of the topics that concern me about the current General Plan:
- we need more community engagement, especially in those that are more disadvantaged! The more people are
involved in their community, the more they are willing to care for it
- there needs to be a plan on how we are going to address the toxic lead exposure within Santa Ana. This should
include testing to see who has been affected.
- more investment in parks, libraries, community spaces, and more would be extremely beneficial to the community
I hope you take the emails you are receiving in consideration, even if it’s not a large amount. Many of our
community members do not know this plan is trying to be implemented. We ask you do more meaningful outreach.
