AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT
FOR THE RELOCATION, RESTORATION
AND OPERATION OF THE DR. HOWE - WAFFLE HOUSE
AND CARRIAGE HOUSE BETWEEN THE
SANTA ANA HISTORICAL PRESERVATION SOCIETY
AND THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA
This Amendment to the Agreement for Relocation, Restoration
and Operation of the Dr. Howe - Waffle House and Carriage House
is entered into this tq day of February, 1975, at Santa Ana,
California, between the City of Santa Ana, a chartered municipal
corporation, hereinafter "City", and the Santa Ana Historical
Preservation Society, a non-profit corporation of the State of
California, hereinafter "Society", for the following reasons:
A. The Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange
wishes to nominally lease to CITY a site for the historical
Dr. Howe - Waffle House and Carriage House hereinafter "Waffle
House" and "Carriage House." County is concerned that the
Historical Buildings not be operated as a proprietary venture
but instead be operated as a Free Public Historical site.
B. Said Agreement for the Relocation, Restoration and
Operation of the "Waffle House" and "Carriage House" provides that
SOCIETY may charge an admission fee for viewing said Waffle House
and Carriage House, and that said fees shall be subject to prior
approval of the CITY.
C. By amending said Agreement to permit only voluntary
donations, the condition precedent to the County's nominal lease
to CITY of the Waffle House and Carriage House site will be
satisfied, and the lease can be executed.

A G R E E M E N T
In consideration of the covenants and conditions contained
herein, the parties hereto mutually agree as follows:
1. Paragraph 14 of the January 2, 1975 Agreement is
amended to read as follows:
14. SOCIETY shall not charge an admission fee for
viewing or using said Waffle House and Carriage
House. SOCIETY may accept voluntary donations in
amounts not to be predetermined and may main-
tain receptacles for the convenience of the
public in making such donations. SOCIETY may
also advertise and publicize the acceptance of
voluntary donations. Hours open for visitation
shall be subject to prior approval of the City
Manager of the City of Santa Ana.
2. This Amendment shall be effective on the date first
above written.
