As a 22-year resident of Floral Park whose home is on the Historical Registry, I respectfully request that the
Planning Commission
send this CUP application to the Santa Ana Historic Resources Commission for consideration. This issue needs to
be heard by the
Historic Resources Commission which has purview over additions which impact the historic structure itself and all
the improvements
surrounding it. The Planning Commission cannot bypass the HRC in this CUP process by permitting City staff to
wrongly conclude
that the HRC only has jurisdiction over the residential structure itself , and unilaterally determine which additions or
alterations interfere
with the character-defining features of the Historic Property so as to bypass the HRC. Permitting this CUP process
to move forward
severely undermines the HRC and is contrary to Santa Ana's professed intent to support the preservation of historic
properties,
particularly one as historic as this one. I refer you to a recent issue of the Floral Park Gazette in which the history of
this house
and its original occupant was the feature. Please defer this to the HRC.
