HomeMy WebLinkAboutCORRESPONDENCE - #36 May 4, 2022 Santa Ana City Council Members and Mayor, I have been a resident of Santa Ana for over 20 years. I am Chinese American and teach the People's History of Orange County every summer in SAUSD. This program was honored by the City of Santa Ana in the summer of 2019. In this program we discuss the burning down of Chinatown in 1906 in Santa Ana due to racism and white supremacy. I heard that there will be an apology issued by the City. I am very happy to hear about this. Can I ask if there will be a plaque or historical marker with the text on the location where Chinatown used to be? Also, can I ask who initiated this resolution? I would like to reach out and congratulate them. Also, can you tell me the date that this apology will be issued, I would like to invite all the students who have participated in our program over the years to be there. I would also like to invite the Heritage Museum and all the teachers involved in this program would also like to be present. As this is a momentous occasion. It is the first step in reconciliation with the past wrongs. Some of you already know me as Jose Solorio's ex-wife. He always had the intention to do something like this. I'm glad it is finally being done. Feel free to contact me at Iinnlee100(a)amail.com. I hope to hear from one or some of you soon. Sincerely, Linn Lee
