Subject: Item 67 - City Council Meeting 6/21
Mayor and Members of the City Council,
Please protect the views of the Santa Ana Water Tower from the 5 Freeway by revising the proposed
ordinance to prohibit new billboards within 1,000 feet of the Santa Ana Water Tower.
'Exhibit 3, Page 2, Potential Billboard Area 2' indicates a billboard may be constructed northeast of the Water
Tower adjacent to the 5 Freeway on Santiago Street. The views of the Water Tower and the
Downtown/Midtown mid-rises are beautiful as you drive this segment of the 5 freeway. The addition of an
electronic billboard in this specific area will become a distraction and cheapen the views of the City's most
important landmark.
If you have ever driven the 5 Freeway and passed the Water Tower, you know how pretty this sight is. Let's
prevent an electronic billboard from affecting this landmark view from one of the busiest freeway segments in
Southern California.
The rest of this ordinance looks great.
Thank you,
Lisandro Orozco

Mayor Sarmiento and Honorable Council Members,
My name is Scott King and I am the owner of Del Amo Motorsports Orange County. I
am writing you to express my avid support for the Billboard Ordinance coming before
you for consideration on June 21, 2022.
1 have invested extensively in creating our business in the City of Santa Ana and the
passage of the Billboard Ordinance will be a much needed help for the success of that
business. We currently employ over 80 employees at Santa Ana and through the passage
of this Ordinance we will be able to continue to expand our operations, employ more
constituents and generate more tax revenue for the city. This Ordinance will do incredible
things for businesses in Santa Ana, and I know other business owners are also in support.
With the benefits so great, I find only good sense in supporting the Billboard Ordinance.
Thank you for taking this critical step in the economic development of the city and the
support of the local economy.
Sincerely,
Scott King
