Main Street Santa Ana, CA 92707 To Whom It May Concern, I'm disappointed to have the need to contact you regarding the services of the new waste hauler. It has been a constant issue from day one of missed service dates, missed weeks, having them come on wrong dates for pickup, servicing only half of our community, etc. Three weeks from their supposed start date in our community, Republic Services did finally begin to collect our bins routinely and on the correct day. However, in the meantime, we had overflowing trash littering our community and liquids leaking out of bins onto our hardscape, resulting in added costs to our HOA for cleaning services and power washing. And now the issues are starting again with inconsistent pickup. Recently, Republic has taken to showing up before 7am on Wednesday for the Recycling and then coming back late afternoon for the Trash. Therefore, some of the recycling is being missed, as some residents don't put their bins out until Wednesday morning and they miss the 'before 7am' pickup of the Recycling. Although we have rules about service providers and noise in the community before 8am, we sent a note to residents to put their bins out on Tuesday evening in the event the collection came super early and did not bother to contact Republic about the early pickup and the noise complaints. We were satisfied that they were at least finally picking up the waste consistently and on the correct service date of Wednesdays. However, soon after they were seemingly on track, the collection of the Recycling bins has now completely stopped and the bins have not been collected for two weeks now. Only a portion of of the Trash bins are being collected and all unserviced bins stay out on the street, uncollected, week after week. We have put in calls to Jimmy Galven, our community representative at Republic. He does not answer his phone or respond to messages. We have called the Republic business line and been assured that the Recycling would be collected last week. It did not happen. We need to have our Recycling bins serviced this Wednesday, along with the Trash pickup. We need our Recycling and Trash bins to be routinely collected on the scheduled day of every Wednesday, without any interruptions. i Working with Republic and with Christy Kindig and attempting to have our trash collection services squared away to where it is routinely collected, without interruption and disruption to our community, has been a time consuming and fruitless effort, at this point. We need to have this addressed by someone who can actually do something. The lapses in collection are detrimental to our community on many levels and will no longer be tolerated whatsoever. Republic has been given a fair amount of time to work out any staffing or whatever issues they could possibly have transitioning into their new accounts. At this point their level of service is unacceptable. We will be filing a claim for reimbursement of cost of services not received. Please contact me to let me know how your offices plan to remedy this situation and when we can expect to have our Recycling bins picked up and what measures are being taken to have uninterrupted waste management in our community going forward. As previously mentioned, we have been there, done that, and to no avail. At this point, it is unclear whether or not this matter will be placed on the Agenda for the meeting tonight or any future meeting, as was the intent of our original email. You have not addressed our concerns in any reasonable manner and we will continue with our CLAIM against the City for interrupted waste management services and related costs to our community. Just so it is understood, we are letting you know because this issue has persisted for more than 3 months now. We are not going to be continuing to "let you know" that the issue still persists or how now a different set of issues exists, because the situation does continually change. As soon as one bad behavior is corrected by Republic, a new bad behavior starts. They have been unresponsive until we contacted Christy Kindig. She can no longer control what is happening with this waste management company. We have been dealing with both now for months and they just can't seem to get it right. I'm sure this is not what you contracted for and changed companies for. It boils down to the waste management company doing a terrible job. Who can make them perform? We never had any issues in 20 years with the previous waste hauler, Waste Management. Republic needs to do better and exercising our rights against this new contract should be looked into. What does it take to get the trash collected not only in our HOA but all of Santa Ana? It should not be this hard to collect the trash and if it is then the problem needs to go.
