Members of the Planning Commission:
In my capacity as President. and on behalf of the Board of Directors of the Friends of the
Santa Ana Zoo (FOSAZ), I would like to express the unanimous support of the Board for the
street name change proposed by the City as described in the Staff Report.
As you are aware, the Zoo for seventy-plus years has provided a unique sanctuary for
residents of Santa Ana, Orange County and Southern California for animal conservation
education and interaction with animal life accessible to children and adults in the
community. For those who have not visited recently, the Zoo has undergone, and is currently
undergoing, substantial additions and modifications to improve the community's experience.
The street name change to South Zoo Lane, from the current South Mabury and South Elk
Lane will have a significant impact on making the Zoo more easily accessible.
FOSAZ would particularly like to express its thanks to the Elks Lodge for its support of the
change.
Thanks for your consideration and look forward to seeing you at the Zoo.
