Currently, SAPD Policy 308 – “Officer Response To Calls” does not provide that officers are required to contact the calling party and notify them that the call has been addressed. Updating SAPD policy to require police officers that respond to a call for service to contact the calling party will provide transparency and accountability that the call has been addressed and will present opportunities to directly provide customer service to calling parties, such as residents and business owners. This item was discussed with Kristine Ridge, City Manager, and David Valentin, Santa Ana Police Department Chief. Submitted By: Mayor Pro Tem Phil Bacerra
