CTION IN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA~ CALIFORNIA, ON THE 12TH DAY OF APRIL, 1955, FOR THE ~.RCTION OF CITY OFFICERS OF SAID CITY, GIVING NOTICE OF SAID ~RCTION; DESIGNATING THE POLLING PLA~, TN~ NOUR~ DURIN8 W~ION ~ POLL~ §NALL ~ OPENED, THE OFFICERS TO BE ~T.ECT~D~ AND APPOINTING ELECTION OFFICERS TO SERVE AT SAID ELECTION THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That a general municipal election is hereby called and shall be held in the City of Santa Ana, County of Orange, State of California, by the qualified electors of said City on the second Tuesday in April, 1955, the same being April 12, 1955. SECTION 2. There shall be 49 voting precincts, 48 of which shall be within the territorial limits of the City of Santa Ana, consisting of the con- solidation of two or more regular voting precincts last established excepting only consolidated voting precinct Numbered 48, which shall consist of one regular election precinct only and one consolidated voting precinct No. 49 shall consist of that portion of the Santa Ana High School District lying outside the corporate l~m~ts of the City of Santa Aha for the purpose of voting only, on the three members of the Board of Education. SECTION 3. That it is hereby determined that the precinct board of each precinct shall consist of one inspector, one judge, and two clerks. That election boards for each of said consolidated voting precincts are hereby appointed. That the consolidated voting precincts, the polling places thereof and the election boards for each shall be as set out on that certain document headed "NOTICE OF ELECTION" attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference and the Clerk of the Council shall publish said "NOTICE OF ELECTION" as a separate document and not as a part of this Ordinance by publishing the s~m~ in the Santa Ana Independent in two issues thereof, the first publication to be not later than the thirty- first day before the date of said election. Precinct election officers shall receive the following compensation: Inspectors, $15.00; all others$12.00 for their work as such officers; owners of privately owned polling places shall receive the sum of $9.00 for the use of each polling place. SECTION 4. Said election shall be held and conducted in accordance with the laws regulating municipal elections in cities of the Sixth Clas$~ and ~th the general election laws of the State of Californi~ so far as the same may be applicable thereto. The Polls sh~l~ be opened at 7 A. M. on the d~y of said election, and shall be kept open until 7 P. M. of said day~ at which time the polls shall be closed. SECTION 5. The Clerk of the Council shall prepare and cause to be published~ a list of the names of the nominees in alphabetical order or in the order in which they appear on the ballot~ and the respective offices for which they have been nominated~ twice before the day of said election~ in the Santa Ana Independent in the form as required by law. SECTION 6. The Clerk of the Council shall prepare and cause to be printed, official ballots in the form and number as required by law, and shall procure all other supplies necessary for the holding of said election as re- quired by law. SECTION 7. That said general municipal election is held to elect the officers to fill the offices for the terms as follows: 1. Two members of the City Council to be nominated from Wards T~o and Four and elected by the electors of the City at large, the term of each to begin on April 19, 1955, and to hold office until the second Tuesday of April~ 1959. 2. Three members of the Board of Education to be elected at large, the term of each member of the Board of Education to begin on April 19, 1955~ the two members elected to the Board of Education for the full terms to hold office until the second Tuesday of April, 1959, and the one member elected to the Board of Education for the short term to hold office until the second Tuesday of April, 1957. SECTION 8. The Clerk of the Council shall certify to the passage and adoption of this Ordinance ~ s~11 cause the same to be published in one issue of the Santa Aha Independent. This Ordinance shall take effect upon the date of publication. -2 - its 1955. Larsen CLF.~f OF THE COUNCIL NOTICE OF]ELECTION Notice is hereby given that a general municipal election will be held in the City of Santa Ana, Orange County~ California, and in some territory out- side of the City of Santa Aha adjacent thereto, on Tuesday, the 12th day of April, 19553 that the poles will be open between the hours of 7 A. M. and 7 P. M. for the election of the following officers: 1. Two members of the City Council to be nominated from Wards Two and Four and elected by the electors of the City at large, the term of each to be- gin on April 19, 1955, and to hold office until the second Tuesday of April, 1959. 2. Three members of the Board of Education to be elected at large, the term of each to begin on April 19, 1955~ the two members elected to the Board of Education for the full term to hold office until the second Tuesday of April, 1959~ and the one member elected to the Board of Education for the short term to hold office until the second Tuesday of Apri% 1957. That consolidated voting Precinct No. 49 hereinbelow described is the territory outside of the City of Santa Ana and that the vote therein will be limited to the election of said three members of the Board of Education here- inabove referred to. There will be 49 consolidated voting precincts for the purpose of holding the election, consisting of either the regular election precincts established for holding State and County elections or a consolidation of some of such precincts.
