NS-129 OF THE CITY OF S~TA ~d~A, CALIFORNIA, FIXING THE ~iOUNT OF MONEY ASCERTAINED T0 CARRY ON THE VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, TO PAY THE BOI~DED INDEBTEDneSS FALLING DUE, FOR THE Cb~d~ENT YEAR 1955-1956 FIXING THE RATE OF TAXATION FOR THE CUP~°~NT YEAR 1955-56, AND DESIGNATING THE NUMBER OF CENTS ON EACH $100.00 FOR THE VARIOUS Fb%YDS OF SAID CITY AND HEKEBY LEVIED ON THE WHOIE OF THE TAXABLE PROPERTY OF SAID CITY WHEREAS, heretofore, on the 28th day of December, 19lb, the City of Santa Ana did elect to avail itself of the provisions of State law providing that assessment of property and collection of taxes might be done for cities by the couuty in which the cities were located; and WHEREAS~ under the provisions of Section 600 of the Charter of the City of Santa Ana, the county system of assessment and tax collection shall continue to be used unless otherwise provided by Ordinance; and WHEREAS, the Auditor of the County of Orange on the hth day of August, 1955, filed b_is statement in writing with the City of Santa Ana, showing the total value of all property within the corporate limits for the fiscal year 1955-56 as. equalized and collected by the Board of Supervisors of Orange County, aud fixed the sum as shown by the assessment rolls for said year at $71,894,520.00 exclusive of operative property belonging to public utilities, and showing the total value of all property belonging to public utilities and used as operative property within the corporate limits of said City for said fiscal year as tentatively determined by the Board of Equalization of the State of California to be $7,122,350.00 which waid amounts m~ke a total assessed valuation for tax purposes within the City of Santa Aha of the sum of $79,016,870.00; NOW, THEP~FORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION t. That the total valuation of the taxable property of the City of Santa Aha of $79,016,870.O0 shall be used as a basis for the levy of the t~xes of the City of Santa Aha, at the same time and in the same manner in which County levies are made and collected. SECTION 2. The City Council does hereby levy a tax for the fiscal year begin- ~ning July 1, 1955 and ending June 30, 1956 for the purpose of c~rrying on the various Departments, to pay the bonded indebtedness and interest, to pay the amounts due the State Employees' Retirement System, to maintain the library, to operate the recrea- tion and parks program and to provide for the special recreation facilities construc- tion program authorized by the voters of the City by the adoption of an initiative Ordinance at the Special Election held November ~ 19~2 and fixes the rate thereof at $1.??00 on each $100.00 of assessed value of all property within the City of Santa Ana and apportions said amount among the various funds and purposes as follows, to-wit: For the General Fund $1.0000 on each $100.00 of the taxable property in said City; For the Library Fnnd $.1800 on each $100.00 of the taxable property in said City; For the Retirement Fund $.1000 on eaeh $100.00 of the taxable property in said City; For the Recreation and Park Fund $.0850 on each $100.00 of the taxable property in said City; That the bonded indebtedness and interest of the City for the Santa Ana Munici- pal Improvement Bond Fund authorized by the voters by their ballots cast in the Spec- ial Municipal Bond Election held April 9, 1946, may be paid for the current fiscal year, the rate of $.0800 on each $100.OO of the taxable property in said City is hereby fixed but that said r ate shall not apply to any portion of that property in "Southeast Santa Ana" added to said City by annexation certified by the Secretary of State on August 22, 1946 and designated Tax Code Areas ll05 and ll06, nor to any por- tion of that property in Southeast Santa Ana designated as "that portion of Orange County Waterworks District No. 6 lying and being outside of the City of Santa Ana, California" and added to said City by annexation certified by the Secretary of State on December 18, 1948, nor to any portion of that' property lying South of East First Street and designated as "The Prentice pare Territory" added to the City by annex- ation certified by the Secretary of State on October ll, 1949 and designated Tax Code Area ll08, nor to any portion of that property designated "Northwest Corner of Bristol and Edinger Street" added to the City by annexation certified by the Secretary of State on May 23, 1951, nor to any portion of that property designated "North of Edinger and West of Bristol Streets" added to the City by annexation certified by the Secretary of State on June 6, 1951 and jointly designated Tax Code Area ll09, nor to any portion of that property designated "Townsend Annexation" added to the City by annexation certified by the Secretary of State on May 26, 1952 and designated Tax Code Area lll2. That the bonded indebtedness and interest of the City for the Fire Department Bond Fund authorized by the voters by their ballots cast in the Special Municipal Bond Election held June 6, 1950 may be paid for the current year, the rate of $.0200 on --2-- each $100.00 of the taxable property in said City is hereby fixed, but that said rate shall not apply to any portion of that property designated "Northwest Corner of Bristol and Edinger Street" added to the City by annexation certified by the Secretary of State on May 23, 19~l, nor to any portion of that property designated "North of Edin- ger and West of Bristol Streets" added to the City by annexation certified by the Secretary of State on June 6, l~S1 and jointly designated Tax Oode Area llO% nor to any portion of that property designated "Townsend Annexation" added to the City by annexation certified by the Secretary of State on May 26, 1~52 and designated Tax Code Area lll21. That the special tax which the City Council is required to levy and collect by the initiative Ordinance passed and adopted by the voters of the City of Santa Ana at the Special Election held in said City on the ~th day of November, 1952 may be raised for the purpose of constructing a swimming pool in Memorial Park and to provide other recreational facilities, the rate of $.1500 on e~ch $100.00 of assessed value of the taxable property in said City. That a General Capital ~Lmprovement Fund may be established,~ as provided for in Section 611 of the Charter of the City of Santa Ana, the rate of $.1550 on each $100.00 of assessed value of the taxable property in said City. SECTION ~. The Clerk of the Council is hereby instructed to i~maediately sub- mit a certified copy of this Ordinance to the County Auditor of Orange County, Cal- ifornia o SECTION 5. The Clerk of the Council shall certify to the passage and adoption of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published at as early a date as possible and in any event, witkin 15 days after ~its adoption in one issue of the Santa Ana Independent.
