NS'3~3 REGULATING THE HOURS OF PRENTICE PARK ZOO AND PROHIBITING ENTRY DURING CLOSED HOURS WHEREAS, on numerous occasions during the nighttime persons have entered Prentice Park Zoo while the same was closed to the public, and therein damaged property, ar~oyed, frightened and injured the ani- reals and birds there kept, a~ d have stol en therefrom birds and other items, and it is now deemed necessary to establish regulations govern- ing admission thereto, and penal izing certain conduct therein; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the S~ta Aha ~unicipal Code be and it is here- by amended by adding new sections at the end of Part 6 of Chapter 2 of Article IV thereof, in words and figures as follows: "SECTION 4264. Prentice Park Zoo, Hours. The Zoo in Prentice Pa~ shall be open to the public be- tween the hours of 10:00 A.M. and 7:30 P.M. during the months of May through September, both inclusive, and from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. during the months of October through April, both inclusive. SECTION 4264.1. Same. Area Defined. Prentice Park is located on the south side of First Street immediately east of Mabury Street. Prentice Park Zoo is lo- cated in the northerly part of Prentice Park inside of a com- pletely fenced area, immediately south of the parking area adjacent to First Street, and is bounded and fenced as follows: Beginning at a point located ll0 feet south of the center line of First Street and 40.5 feet east of the center line of Mabury Street; thence east 230 feet to a point on the south- westerly right-of-way line of the Santa Ana Freeway; thence southeasterly along said southwesterly right-of-way line of the Santa Ana Freew~ 615 feet to a point; thence west 360 feet to an angle point in said fence; thence north to a gate and continuing northwesterly approximately 430 feet to a point which is the south post of a gate; thence no,oh to the point of beginning. SECTION 4264.2. Same. Trespassing Prohibited. No person, except employees of the Police Department, mud Fire Department, ~nen in response to a call or when investi- gating a report or observed trouble in said Zoo, and employees of the Park and Recreation Department duly authorized to be in said Zoo during the hours when the s~ne is closed to the public, shall enter, be or remain inside of Prentice Park Zoo boundary fence, as defined in Section 4264.1 of this Code, at any time other th~ the hours when the same is open to the public, as set forth in Section 4264 of this Code. SECTION 4264.3. Same. Conduct Prohibited. No person shall wilfully frighten, molest, injure, chase or annoy any animal or bird in Prentice Park Zoo. No person shall open, unlock or enter any cage, animal house, runway, or display or exhibit pen in Prentice Park Zoo, without ex- press authorization ~ to do fr~n the attendant in charge. No person shall throw or propel any thing of any kind or character, or squirt any water into any cage, animal house, runway or display area, or into my pen or place where animals are kept, fenced in, housed or caged in Prentice Park Zoo." SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall take effect 30 days from and after the time of its adoption.
