HomeMy WebLinkAboutNS-449 ORDINANCE No. NS-hh9 AMENDING THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE, 1955 EDITION, TO ADD SPECIAL PROVISION FOR PEDESTRIAN CANOPY WHEREAS, heretofore the City Council of the City of Santa Aha did adopt as an Ordinance of the City the 1955 Edition of Pacific Coast Building Officials Conference, "Uniform Building Code" and it now appears desirable to amend Section 3203 thereof. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA A~ DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: That the 1955 Edition of the Uniform Building Code heretofore adopted for the City of Santa Ana is hereby amended by adding to Section 3203 thereof a new sub- paragraph to be designated (i) to be placed at the end of said Section in words and figures as follows: (i.) Canopy for pedestrian protection. Regardless of restrictions due to Fire Zones, an approved flame-proofed canvas or Class III (Flame-spread classification) plastic may be used for roof covering on a structure adjacent to an entrance to a building provided that 1. Structure is used for pedestrian protection only, 2. Area covered does not exceed 200 square feet and shall be over private property, 3. Structure shall be not less than 20 feet from adjacent property lines and from any building other than building being served. 4. Supporting structure shall conform to structural and fire-resistive requirements of the code. Section 2: This Ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days from the date of and after/its adoption.
