CHAPTER 6, PART 2, OF THE SANTA ANA
MUNICIPAL CODE BY REPEALING AND RE-ENACTING
SECTION 2-740, SECTION 2-741 AND SECTION
2-742 TO PROVIDE FOR REVISED RENTAL RATES
RELATIVE TO USE OF SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL STADIUM
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That the Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby amended
by repealing and re-enacting Section 2-740, Section 2-741 and Section
2-742 thereof to read in words and figures as follows:
Section 2-740. Ap~licabilit~ of Article.
Ail use, rental occupany and control of that certain property
'belonging to the city, located upon the west side of Flower Street
between 6th and Civic Center Drive West, known as the Santa Ana Mu-
.nicipal Stadium, which includes the stadium and the area surrounding
the stadium to the fenced boundary thereof, shall be under the terms,
conditions and provisions of this article.
Section 2-741. Permits; Deposits.
Permits for use of the stadium will be issued by the recreation
and parks department. A cash deposit of seventy-five dollars ($75.00)
will be required with applications filed by other than school users.
Applicants must agree to comply with the rules and regulations issued
by the recreation and parks department with the approval of the city
manager. Cash deposits will not be refunded. School users will ac-
count for their sales, will not be required to make a deposit for
use of the stadium, and will render final accounting and remit pay-
ment within ten (10) days after each event. Other users will be
required to pay the minimum fee five (5) days in advance of scheduled
dates and to render final accounting and payments within three (3)
days after each use.
Section 2-742. Minimum Rental Rates.
(a) The minimum rental rates for the stadium for an event
where no admission charge or free will offering is taken (to cover
school practices, graduation exercises, band practices, rehearsals,
or similar uses) shall be:
Night use requiring flood lights $20.00 per hour
Day use
10.00 per hour
Dressing rooms
25.00 for each occasion
(b) Rental for a scholastic or a charitable event, where an
admission charge is made or where a free will offering is taken,
shall be a minimum of two hundred twenty-five dollars ($225.00) each
day, three hundred twenty-five dollars ($325.00) each night, or fifteen
per cent (15%) of the gross value of all tickets sold for the event,
whichever is greater; provided, however, there shall be no rental fee
upon receipts in excess of the first fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000.00)
on any one game, exhibition, athletic event or other use.
(c) The rental for a single commerical event, where an admission
charge is made, shall be a minimum of two hundred twenty-five dollars
($225.00) each day, three hundred twenty-five dollars ($325.00) for each
night, or fifteen per cent (15%) of the gross value of all tickets
sold for the event, whichever is greater; provided, however, there
shall be no rental fee upon receipts in excess of the first thirty
thousand dollars ($30,000.00) on any one game, exhibition, athletic
event or other use.
(d) The rental for a series of commercial events, extending
over a period not to exceed one (1) year, may be negotiated by the
city manager, and, upon approval thereof by the city council, may be
the subject of a contract. Any such contract shall specify the dates
for which the stadium is rented and the rental to be paid therefor
to the city, said agreed rental to be paid in advance.
(e) Where a show, athletic event, or other activity consists
of more than one performance, each performance (as distinguished from
act) shall constitute a separate event within the terms of this
schedule.
(f) Miscellaneous fees in addition to the above minimum rental
rates applicable to each scholastic, charitable or commercial event,
show or performance shall be:

Each police sergeant (one for each five police patrolmen)

Use, maintenance or preparation of football field

Each refuse container
SECTION 2: That this Ordinance shall take effect thirty days
from and after the date of its adoption.

at its regular meeting held on the 16~hday of April, 1973.
