ORDINANCE NO. NS- 2080
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA
ANA ADOPTING THE 1988 EDITION OF
THE UNIFORM SIGN CODE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That section 8-1226 of the Santa Ana Municipal
Code is amended to read as follows:
Sec. 8-1226. Adoption by reference.
There is adopted by the city that certain code
known as the Uniform Sign Code, 1988 Edition. The said
code is adopted and incorporated as fully as if set
forth at length herein as provided for in Section 419 of
the Charter of the city. Any provision of this article
amending the "Sign Code" or "Uniform Sign Code" shall
be construed as amending the above-said code edition,
including such provisions enacted prior to the adoption
of the above-said code edition and not thereafter
repealed. The above-said code edition as thus amended,
together with all other provisions of this article, shall
be known as the sign code of the City of Santa Ana.
SECTION 2: That sections 8-1250 and 8-1265 of the Santa
Ana Municipal Code are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3: That section 8-1280 of the Santa Ana Municipal
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
Sec. 8-1280 Fees (section 304).
Section 304 of the Uniform Sign Code is deleted.

SECTION 4: That sections 8-1290 and 8-1300 of the Santa
Ana Mun{c{pal Code are hereby reD~al~d.
SECTION 5: That Division 3 of Article VII of Chapter 8 of
the Santa Ana Municipal Code, consisting of sections 8-1549
through 8-1558, is hereby repealed in its entirety.

6: That the Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby
by adding a section, to be numbered 10-27, which said
reads as follows:
Sec. 10-27. Prohibiting advertising on public property.
No person except a public officer or employee in
performance of a public duty shall paint, paste, print,
nail, tack, or otherwise fasten any card, banner,
handbill, sign, poster, advertisement, or notice of any
kind on any curbstone, lamp post, pole, hydrant, bridge,
wall, or tree upon any public street, or other public
place, except as may be required or permitted by law.
SECTION 7: If any section, subsection, sentence, clause,
phrase or portion of this ordinance is for any reason held to
be invalid or unconstitutional by the decision of any court of
competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the
validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance. The City
Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby declares that it would
have adopted this ordinance and each section, subsection, sent-
ence, clause, phrase or portion thereof irrespective of the
fact that any one or more sections, subsections, sentences,
clauses, phrases, or portions be declared invalid or unconsti-
tutional.
SECTION 8: Neither the adoption of this ordinance nor the
repeal hereby of any ordinance shall in any manner affect the
prosecution for violation of ordinances, which violations were
cc~mitted prior to the effective date hereof, nor be construed
as affecting any of the provisions of such ordinance relating
to the collection of any such license or penalty or the penal
provision applicable to any violation thereof, nor to affect
the validity of any bond or cash deposit in lieu thereof,
required to be posted, filed or deposited pursuant to any
