A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
RECOI~/IENDING THAT THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA
PASS AND ADOPT T~ PRESENTLY PROPOSED At,~NDA~D~S TO T~
ORANGE COUNTY ?~ATER DISTRICT ACT
WI~EAS, for many years, the water levels i~ the Orange County
Basin have been falling because of the annual overdraft on such basin,
which annual overdraft has constantly increased; and
WHEREAS, after much study, certain amendments to the Orange
County Water District Act have been agreed upon and have been intro-
duced as a Senate Bill by Senator Murdy which amendments enlarge said
District by inclusion of several cities including the City of Santa
Aha and provide for a special tax on water severance or pumping, and
further provides that a part of the ad valorem tax on all the District
and all of the special severance tax is to be used for the purchase
of water to be imported into and placed in the Orange County Water
Basin by sinking and other measures;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the
City of Santa aha hereby requests and urges the Legislature of the
State of California to pass and adopt the proposed amendments to the
Orange County Water District Act.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa Aha
at its regular meeting held on the 2nd day of Narch, 1953.
