TIONAFTER THE PLANNING COMMISSIONRECOM~.NDED DENIAL
WHEREAS, Application No. 379, seeking a Variance to allow
one room in residence located at 1323 W. Edinger Street, Santa Aha
to be used as a Dry Cleaning and Tailoring Agency; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commis.sion did hold a public hearing
on said Application and on April 27, 1953 adopted Resolution No.
512 recommending that the proposed Variance be denied; and
WHEREAS,. the City Council held a public hearing on said Appli-
cation on May &, 1953 and continued said hearing to May 15, 1953
when proponents and opponents were again heard;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council now
finds that special circumstances are attached to the property which
do not generally apply to other property in the vicinity in that,
this residence is older than the others, is on a corner, is the only
house facing Edinger Street and is beside an Alpha Beta Food Market;
that the granting of this Variance is essential to the enjoyment of
a substantial property right possessed by other property in the same
vicinity; and that the granting of the Variance will not result in
material damage or prejudice to other property in the same vicinity;
and
BE IT ~W3RTHEE RESOLVED: That the City Council hereby grants
the Variance to allow a Dry Cleaning and Tailoring Agency to be lo-
cated in the living room of the residence located on property in the
City of Santa, described as:
Lot 26 of Tract No. 1505 as per map thereof
recorded in Book 45 at page &0 of Miscellaneous
Maps of Orange County,
upon the following conditions:
1. There is to be no dry cleaning equipment, no steam presses,
and no steam boilers upon the property;
2. There is to be only one sign which shall be unlighted and
shall not exceed 12 s~uare feet in area;
3. That the yards and lawn areas arour~4 the residence shall
be planted to lawn and landscaped to conform to the surrounding
neighborhood.
