HomeMy WebLinkAbout57-280RESOLUTION NO. 57-280 PROHIBITING PARKING AND STOPPING ON PORTIONS OF MAIN STRW..W.T BEGINNING AT FIRST STREET THROUGH NINTH STREET DURING CERTAIN HOURS, ESTABLISHING ONE HOUR AS THE MAXIMUM PARKING PERIOD AND CREATING A LOADING ZONE WHEREAS, on November 4, 1957 the City Council adopted Resolution No. 57-277, which said Resolution, among other things, prohibited all stopping or standing on portions of Main Street between First Street and Ninth Street, abolished the one hour parking limit, and abolished all limited or special parking provisions in said area; and WHEREAS, after further study and public hearing the City Council has determined that the parking prohibition in said area should be limited to the hours between 10 A.M. and 9 P.M. of each day, the period during which peak traffic volumes exist; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Resolution No. 57-277 is hereby amended in those respects in ~ich this Resolution is incon- sistent with the terms of said Resolution, as follows: (1) No person shall s top a~y vehicle on either side of Main Street, from the north curb-line of First Street to the south curb- line of Ninth Street between the hours of 10~ A.M. and 9 P.M. of any day, except on the east side between Fifth Street and Sixth Street, and except that buses may stop in marked loading sones to load and unload passengers. Amy vehicle parked in violation of this provision is hereby declared to be an obstruction to traffic, as defined in Section 585.2 of the Cal ifo~nia Vehicle Code, and such vehicle shall be towed away in the manner and under the provisions of said Vehicle Code, (2) No operator shall stop my vehicle a~ leave the same parked on the east side of Main Street between Fifth Street and Sixth Street without complying with all of the regulations, requirements and pro- hibitions contained in Chapter 3 of Article III of the Sa~ ta Aha Muni- cipal Code governing parking meters and no vehicle so parked shall be left continuously in the same parking stall for a period longer than one hour during those times specified in Section 3307 of said Code dur- ing which the provisions relating to the operation of parking meters are declared to be effective. (3) No operator shall stop any vehicle and leave the same parked on either side of I/ain Street, except on the east side between Fifth Street ~ d Sixth Street, from the north curb-line of First Street to the south curb-line of Ninth Street for a period of time longer than one ho~r between.7 A.M. and 10 A.M. of any day. (4) There is hereby created a Yellow loading zone on the east side of Main Street between Fourth Street and Fifth Street, as follows: The south 60 feet of the north 200 feet. It is expressly provided, however, that no person shall stop, stand or park any vehicle in said loading zone between the hours of l0 A.~/. and 9 P.M. of any day.
