CITY OF SANTA A~'~ON THE QUESTION OF ENLARGEN~NT OR
RELOCATION OF THE ORANGE COUNTY AIRPORT
WHEREAS, the suggestion has been made and encouraged by certain
people and interests that the present Orange County Aizloort should be
enlarged, expanded -and improved at a great expense to the County of
Orange, and
WHEREAS, after study, it appears that no airport in the present
location can ever be adequate in size and equipment to satisfy the
future aviation demands of the Orange County Metropolitan Area, and
becs~se of proximity to residenti~ and recreational structures a~d
facilities can never afford a satisfactory, safe flight pattern free
of danger and noise and vibration nuisance, and for s~ d reasons should
not be enlarged, but should be relocated to a proper area which could
adequately and safely service the aviation requirements of said Orange
County Metropolitan Area without involving nuisance factors;
NOW, THEREFOHE, BE IT RESOLVEDiBY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA: That the Nayor ~ d the City Manager of said City are
hereby instructed to appear at the hearing to be held on the 22nd day
of January, 1958 in the Board Room in the Court House, Santa Ana,
California, before the Board of Supervisors of Orsage County, and there
present the position of the City of Santa Ana and express to said Board
that said City:
1. Is very definitely opposed to the closing of McArthur Boule-
vard.
2. Is very definitely opposed to re-routing McArthur Boule-
vard by a circuitous or devious route or method.
3. Objects to the spending of any County funds to expand,
enlarge or extend the present airport by reason of anticipation of
their handling air travel and traffic for the next 20 years.
4. Is definitely in favor of an adequate airport to handle
anticipated air service and traffic for the Orange County Metropolitan
Area for the next 20 years, including Jet air service to Orange County.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Ssnta Ana
at its regular meeting held
