ANNEXATION OF TERRITORT TO THE CITY OF SANTA ANA,
DESIGNATED "NORTH MAIN STREET ANNEX't, AND GIVING NOTICE
OF TIME AND PLACE OF HEARING PROTESTS THERETO
this Resolution; that
Santa Ana, lies in the
described as:
WHEREAS, 'the Boundary Commission of Orange County, California
has approved the description of certain real property, as herein-
below set out, for the purpose of a~nexation, and the Planning Cormn-
ission of the City of Santa Ana has s~proved said annexation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the
City of Santa Aha hereby initiates proceedings for the annexation of
the real property herein described for the following reasons:
1. That municipal utilities and service structures will of
necessity have to be located in said area to serve adjoining proper-
ties within the City of Santa Ana.
2. That the short area of public street in incorporated terr-
itory creates a difficulty of m~ntenance , added effort and expense
resulting either in a contract too small to be economically advantag-
eous, or a contractural relationship to handle repairs, reconstruction
and other maintenance along with larger a~d adjoining street areas,
and could better be serviced, maintained, and repaired if within the
limits of the City of Santa Ana.
3. That said short street area between two cities could not
be adequately policed by the California Highway Patrol or the Sheriff's
Office, and in the interest of efficient and economical traffic regu-
lation should be part of the City of Santa Ana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Council hereby declares
its intention to annex all of said territory under the provisions of
the Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939, and hereby finds
and declares that said territory is uninhabited within the meaning of
Section 35303 of the Govemment Code on the date of the adoption of
said territory is contiguous to the City of
County of Orange, State of California, and is
Beginning at the point of intersection of the West line of
Main Street (66.00 feet wide) with the South line of the 43rd
Annex of ~he/City of Orange, California, as shown on instru-
ment Number 0764 filed with the Office of the County Recorder
on January 20, 195~, County of Orange, State of California,
said point of intersection being an angle point in the City
boundary of the City of Santa Aha, California; thence easterly
~long said South line of the 43rd Annex 66.00 feet to the
East line of Main Street; thence southerly along said East line
of I~ain Street to a point 150.00 feet North of the North line
of Tract No. 31~ as shown on a map recorded in Book 14, Page
49 of ~,mIiscellaneous L~Iaps, records of Orange County, California,
and to said City boundary of Santa Ana; thence westerly along
said City boundary to the Wost line of said Main Streot and
to an angle point in said City boundary; thence northerly along
said West line of Main Street and slong said City boundary to
the point of beginning.
T~at "North ~ain Street Annex" is hereby designated as an
appropriate name of said a~nexation; that said Council hereby declares
its intention to, and it will, annex said territory to, and include
it within, the Santa Ana School District, Santa Ana High School
District, and Santa Ana Jr. College District, and upon completion of
said annexation said territory shall be and become a part of said
School Districts.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that I?L~rch 17th, 1958, at the hour of
7:30 P. ~. in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, 3rd and Main
Streets, in the City of Santa Ana, California, is the time and place
fixed at which said Council will hear protests made by any person
owning real property within said territory so proposed to be annexed.
At any time before said hour any owner of any of said territory may
file written protest against this proposed annexation. Such protests
must state the owner's name and, in general terms, a description and
the area of ~ue property owned.
