ING RATE OF PER DIEM WAGES IN THE LOCALITY OF SANTA
ANA, CALIFOF~IA FOR THE CRAFTS AND CLASSIFICATIONS
NEEDED TO E~(ECUTE CITY CONTRACTS
~EREAS, Division 2, Part 7 of the Labor Code of the State of
California, requires t~at the City Council~ in awarding any contract
for public work shall ascertain the general prevailing rate of per
diem wages in the loc~ity for each craft, classification or type of
workman needed to execute the contract, and shall specify the same,
and the general prevailing rate for holiday and overtime wok, and
the City Council has determined that said prevailing wage rates are
fixed by the contracts entered into between the Unions and the Employ-
ers' Associations, and with fewexceptions such rates so fixed are the
prevailing rates in the County of Orange, with an insignificant num-
ber of employers paying less, and
~HEREAS, such contracts so fixing wage rates to be paid are
renegotiated infrequently and remain level for long periods, but
that the City is continuously letting public work contracts, and
WHEREAS, the Council hereafter proposes and will reexamine the
prevailing wage rates in the locality in each case prior to awarding
any contract for public ~Jork, but unless a change has occurred will
not readopt such rates or republish the sane, in the belief that in
this way the highest prev~ ling wage rate will in each case be estab-
lished and specified, and a great saving in

tained the general prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality
of Santa Ana, California for each craft, classification or type of
workman needed on Public Works contracts to be let by the City to be
as set forth i~ the schedules, wages scales, and sub-trade listings,
three copies of which are attached hereto and adopted hereby, by
reference, as though fully set out herein, and are ordered filed by
the Clerk of the Council in her office for examination by any person
interested therein, and are hereby declared to be the prevailing rates
in the area and to be maintained by said Clerk of the Council as a
public record for the purpose of reference thereto in the call for
bids for contracts published and circulated by tke City in contracts
awarded by the City.
