IDENCE
WHEREAS, heretofore the City Council adopted an Ordinance
establishing certain boundaries in which employees of the City of
Santa Ana were required to maintain their residence, which said 0rd-
inance was repealed by the adoption of ~u Ordinance establishing and
adopting the Civil Service Rules ~d Regulations of the City of Saa ta
Ana, and
WHEREAS, under the authority of Section 2202 of the Sa~ ta Ana
~,Iunicipal Code which requires that all employees of the City of Santa
Ana shall reside within the City or within such areas borderiug the City
as shall be designated by Resolution by the City Council, and
~qEREAS, after study, the Personnel Board of the City of Sas ta Aha
has recormnended to the City Council the establishment of boundaries for
the residence of employees of the City, and the Council concurs in
their conclusions that said area should have definite, well established
geographical exterior limits and should include an area of approximately
a five-mile radius from the intersection of First Street and i~ain Street
in the City of Santa Ana;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: 'fnat all employees of the City
of Santa Ana shall establish their residence within the exterior bound-
aries hereinbelow set out within six months from the date they acquire
status as permanent employees of the City of Santa Ana, and shall there-
after maintain their residence within said exterior boundaries during
the time they are such employees of the City of Sa~ ta Ans.
The area in which such employee residence is required is des-
cribed as all of the area bounded as follows:
Starting at the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and Baker, then
i~orth on Harbor to Gtsler,
West on Gisler to Ward,
North on Ward to Talbert,
West on Talbert to Wright,
Y,~orth on Wright and Brookhurst to Chapman,
East on Chapman to Euclid,
North on Euclid to Katella,
East on Katella to ~est,
North on West to Ball
East on Ball, Taft and Orange to Santiago Boulevard,
South on Santiago to Chapman,
East on Chapman to ±~ewport Avenue,
South on Newport Avenue to Newport Boulevard,
East on Newport Boulevard to Skyline Drive,
South on Skyline Dri ye to Le~uon Heights Drive,
South on Lemon Heights to Foothill Boulevard,
Southeast on Foothill Boulevard to Peters Canyon Road,
Southwest on Peters Canyon Road to Irvine Boulevard,
Southeast on Irvine Boulevard to Culver Road,
Southwest on Culver Road to Ladle Road,
Westerly on Lane Road and Ss Joaquin to Paularino,
Northwest on Paularino to Newport Boulevard,
Southwest on ~ewport to Baker.
Residence as used in this Resolution means the principal place
of abode or customary domicile of the employee, to which he most fre-
quently returns at the end of his work period, where the majority of
his personal effects for day to day use are maintained, as distinguished
from a cabin, room, or building where he less frequently sleeps, rests,
and spends his leisure hours.
