RESOLUTION NO. 58-76
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
ANA DETERMINING AND DECLARING THAT WEEDS WHICH BEAR
SEEDS OF A WINGY OR DOWNY NATURE AND ATTAIN SUCH A
LARGE GROWTH AS TO BECOME A FIRE MENACE WHEN DR~, AND
~ICH ARE NOXIOUS AND DANGEROUS, ARE GROWING UPON
CERTAIN STP~ETS, SIDEWALKS, AND PRIVATE PROPERTY IN
SAID CITY OF SANTA ANA, AND ARE A PUBLIC NUISANCE:
DIRECTING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC ~RKS TO POST
NOTICES TO DESTROY SAID WEEDS AS REQUIRED BY LAW:
FIXING THE TIME FOR HEARING OBJECTIONS Aka3 PROTESTS,
AND DIRECTING THE ABATEMENT THEREOF IN ACCORDANCE
WITH CHAPTER 13, PART 2, DIVISION 3, TITLE 4 OF THE
GO¥~adIMENT CODE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1:
Pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 13, Part 2, Division 3, Title 4
of the Government code of the State of California, the City Council of the
City of Santa Ana hereby determines and declares that weedS which when
mature bear wingy or downy seeds, which will attain such a large growth
as to become a fire menace when dry or which are otherwise noxious and
dangerous, are growing upon certain street, sidewalks and private property
in said City, and are hereby declared to be a public nuisance, and that the
names of such streets as they are commonly known ars hereinafter set forth
and the property fronting upon such streets or sidewalks, or in front of
which such nuisance exists are hereinafter particularly described by lot
and block numbers according to the official assessment map;

SECTION 2: The Director of Public Works of the City of Santa Aha is hereby
instructed to prepare and post notices to destroy said weeds as required by
law. Said notices shall be posted at least five (5) days prior to the time
for hearing objections and protests by the City Council of said City. and
shall be conspicuously posted in front of the property on which, or in
front of which such nuisance exists, one notice to each piece or parcel of
property in separate ownership of not over fifty (50) feet frontage, or not
more than two notices to any piece or parcel of property in separate ~wner-
ship with a frontage of one hundred (100) feet or less. If the frontage of
any piece or parcel of property in separate ownership is greater than 100
feet. notices shall be posted at not more than one hundred (100) feet in
distance apart.
SECTION ~: The City Council does hereby fix the ~th day of May, 1958 at
?:30 o~clock P. M~ as the time and the Council Chamber in the City Hall of
said City, as the place, for hearing objections and protests to the proposed
removal of such weeds.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Council of the City of Santa Aha at its regular
meeting held on the 17th day of March, 19~.
