HomeMy WebLinkAbout58-086RESOLUTION NO. ~8-86 AUTHORIZING PETITION TO THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF O'RANGE COUNTY TO HAVE PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA EXCEPTED PRO,ti THE LEVY OF ANY ORANGE COUNTY TAX TO PROVIDE STRUCTURAL PIRE PROTECTION V~E1TEAS, the City of Santa Ana is a Municipal Corporation incor- porated and now existing under and by virtue of a charter granted under the ~aws of the State of California; and '~EREAS, the City of Sm ta Ana lies inthe County of Orange in the State of California, and does now provide adequate structural fire protection to all property within the incorporated limits of said City by maintaining a Fire Department of outstanding excellence, modernly equipped, and with trained, competent personnel under outstanding leadership, which said Department has available to it a water system with adequate reserves, maintained at very high pressure, circulated through large trunk mains, all of.wi~ch has resulted in the lowest insurance rate available in any City or unincorporated area in this vicinity; and ~EREAS, Section 25643 of the Govemment Code of the State of C~ifo~nia provides for a petition supported by a Resolution to have Ana property in an area such as the City of Santa/excepted from the levy of any tax for the purpose of providing structural fire protection on the part of the County in which such area is located. i~OW, ~[E~EFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT The City Council of the City of Santa Aha hereby authorizes and directs a petition to be presented to the Honorable Board of Supervisors of Orange County, supported by a certified copy of this Resolution petitioning said County to co~ply with said Gover~nent Code Section 25643.
