~A~TlOW OF TRAgiC AT THE INTERSECTION OF FRUIT,~TH,
AND NORTI~fER STREETS
WHEREAS, after study, it has been determined that traffic
congestion, friction ~d angle interference continuously exists at
the intersection of Fruit, Sixth, and Nortimer Streets because of
acute angle turns and the complex three-way traffic pattern, and that
this condition can be greatly improved by proper channelization of
traffic at said intersection;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That pursuant to the provisions
of the Vehicle Code of the State of California, and the provisions of
the Santa Ana Nunicipal Code, the City Council of the City of santa
Aha hereby approves channelization of traffic at said intersection
in accordance with the plan nominated '~Sixth, French,& Fruit Inter-
section Redesign" dated Narch 28, 1958, and submitted to the City
Council by the Santa Ana Public Works Department, and it is hereby
o~dered that a copy of said plan be filed with and as a part of this
Resolution.
BE IT FURTHER BESOLVED: That the curb along the westerly side
of Nortimer Street between Fruit Street and Sixth Street, and the curb
along the northerly side of Sixth Street between Mortimer Street and
Fruit Street be painted red, and all parking, stopping or standing of
vehicle or thing adjacent to any portion of said curb is hereby pro-
hibited.
BE IT FURTHER P~SOLVED: That said City Council does hereby
designate and declare that traffic on Sixth Street between F~uit
Street and Nortimer Street shall move in one direction only and that
said direction shall be from West to East in said area, and all d~Ivers
of vehicles are prohibited from d~iving or moving any vehicle in a
direction opposite to that herein designated on said portion of Sixth
Street.
BE IT FURTIiER RESOLVED:

That this Resolution shall take effect
but that the prohibition against park-
stopping or standing shall not take effect and the traffic
movements herein provided for and prohibited shall not be required
or prohibited, respectively, until such time as the curbs herein ordered
to be painted red have actually been so painted, and Sixth Street be-
tween Fruit Street and Mortimer Street has been posted with proper signs
to indicate the traffic movements thereon required and prohibited, as
required by the Codes hereinabove referred to.

at its regular meeting held on the l~th day of September, 195~.
