RESOLUTION NO.
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF mANGE
TO INCLUDE NITHIN THE ARTERIAL HIGHWAY FINANCING PROC~A~ THE DEVELOP~4ENT OF
SEVENTEENTH STREET.
~HEREAS, the City of Santa Aha desires to improve Seventeenth Street from
Santiago Avenue to G~and Avenue, and
~EREAS~ Seventeenth Street is an important artery in the Coun~ of C~ange and
of general County interest, and
WHHREA$~ Artiole 2 and Article 3, Chapter 9~ Division 2 of the Streets and Highways
Code authorizes a County, if it so desires~ to expend funds apportioned to it out of the
California Highway Users Tax Fund for aid to any City in the improvement, construction
or repair of a street within a City, and
WHERF. AS, the Board of Supervisors intends to, by appropriate action, provide in the
County budget of the Special Road Improvement Fund for the Fiscal Year 1958-59 a sum
of money for the improvement of streets within the incorporated cities of the County
in accordance with the Orange County Arterial Highway Financing Program.
NOW THHREFCRE, BE IT RESOLVHD that the Council of the City of Santa Aha hereby
requests the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange to allocate to said City
from County Funds the amount of $14~750.00~ said amount to be matched by funds from
said City, to be used to aid said City in the improvement of Seventeenth Street from
Santiago Avenue to Grand Avenue; said improvements to be in accordance with the attached
project statement:
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange is
hereby requested to find that said work on Seventeenth Street, in the manner provided,
is in the general County interest.
BE IT FUR/H~R RESOLVHD that, by this Resolution, the City of Santa Ana agrees with
the basic concepts of the Arterial Highways Financing Program; and further agrees that
its share of the cost of improvements will be available for the fiscal year 1958-59.

Seventeenth Street is part of the City's Master Plan of Streets and Highways.
Seventeenth Stret is ultimately to be a 6 lane highway within a 104 foot right of way.
It is proposed at this time to improve Seventeenth Street to 4 lanes, except at rail-
road crossing, where the ultimate right of way will be improved and signals placed to
