ELECTION IN THAT CERTAIN TERRITORY HEREIN DESIGNATED IngEST
SANCTA ANA ANNEX" TO SUBMIT ~HE QUESTION OF A~EXATION TO THE
CITY 0F SANTA ANA TO THE ELECTORS RESIDING IN SAID TERRITORY
AND FIXING A DAY AND HOUR FOR PROPERTY OWNERS TO SHOW CAUSE
WHY SAID TERRITORY SHOULD NOT BE ANNEXED
WHEREAS, heretofore at the request of residents and property
owners within the area hereinbelow described, the City Council of the
City of Santa Ana adopted a Resolution No. 58-243 consenting to the
cormuencement of proceedings for the annexation of said territory to
the City of Santa Ana; and
WHEREAS, thereafter the proponents of said annexation published
notice of intention to circulate petition for said annexation and filed
a copy thereof accompmuled by a v~itten statement of reasons therefor,
togetaer with the affidavit of publication thereof, and the City Council
adopt ed Resolution No. ~8-260, among other things, approving circulation
of a petition in said area for annexation to the City of Santa Ana; and
WHEREAS, thereafter said petition was circulated and duly filed
and has now been presented to said City Council, together with the
Certificate of the Clerk of the Council and the County Cle~, certifying
that said petitions represent more than one-fourth of the qualified
electors residing within said territory.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the
City of Santa Ana hereby finds that a petition, requesting that the
territory hereinbelow described be annexed $o the City of Sauta Ana,
has been filed with and received by this Council and that the same
is signed by more than one-fourth of the qualified electors residing
within said territory; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That said City Council hereby declares
its intention to call a special election to submit to the electors re-
siding therein the question of the annexation of said territory to the
City of Santa Ar~, which territory is hereby designated as "West. Santa
Ana Annex", an appropriate name by which said territory may be referred
to upon the ballots used in said election.
BE IT FURTh~ER RESOLVED: That the 2~th day of December ,
1958_~, at the hour of ~:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers in the City
Hall, at t.~e southeast corner of ~rd sad ~.'~a.;_n Streets, in Santa Ana,
California, is hereby designated as the hour, day, and place where
any person owning real property within s.aid territory may appear be-
fore the legislative body a~d show cause why said territory should
not 0e annexed to t~e City of Santa Ana. At any time not later than
said hour ny owner of property within said territory may make written
protest against said election. The protest sh~ll state in gener~
terms the name of the owner of the property affected and the location
and area of the property as provided for in Section 3~,120 of the
Government Code of the State of California.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the territory herein designated
"West Santa Ana Annex" and herein referred to lies in ~e County of
Orange, State of Califonata, and is described as:
Beginning at an angle point in the City boundary of the City
of Santa Ana, California, said angle point being the intersec-
tion of the north line of Seventeenth Street (80.00 feet wide)
and the easterly right of way line of the former Newbert
Protection Distrdct Right of Way for the Channel of the Sauta
Aha River; thence North 89° l~' 40" East along said north line
of Seventeenth Street, and along said City boundary ~48.7~ feet
to a point in the northeasterly extension of the monumented
center line of King Street and to an angle point in said City
boundary; thenGe northeasterly along the westerly boundary of
the Rancho Santiago de Santa Ana and ~ong said City boundary
to its intersection with the easterly extension of the ncr th
line of Trask Avenue (40.00 feet wide); thence westerly alo~
said north line and its easterly extension to the west line of
Berrydale Street (80.00 feet wide) and to the existing City
boundary of the City of Garden Grove, California; thence south-
erly a~ong said west line of Berrydale to the north line of
Tract ~o. 1369 shown on a map thereof recorded in Book 4~, Page
17, Niscellaneous ~aps, Records of 0raage County, C~ifomia;
thence westerly along the north line of said Tract No. 1369 to
the northwest corner thereof and to said C%ty boundary of
Garden Grove, California, and to the east line of the west half
(~ 1/2) of the southeast quarter (SE l/4) of Section 3, Township
~ South, Range l0 west, San Bernard~no Base and ~eridian; thence
southerly along said east line to the northeasterly line of the
Pacific Electric Railway Company right of way (100.00 feet
wide); thence northwesterly along said northeasterly line to
the south line of the north half (N 1/2) of the north half
(N 1/2), Section l0 in said Township ~ South, Range l0 Mest;
thence easterly along said south line to the west line of
the northeast quarter (NE l/4) of said Section 10; thence
northerly along said west line to the easterly extension of
the north line of Westminster Avenue and to said boundary of
Garden Grove; thence westerly along said north line and said
boundary to the northerly prolongation of the west line of
the east ~.23 acres of the northeast quarter (NE l/4) of the
northeast quarter (~VE 1/4) of the northwest quarter (k~ 1/4)
of Section 9; thence southerly, along said northerly prolonga-
tion and said west line, to the south line of said northeast quart-
er (i~E 1/4) of the northeast quarter (NE 1/4) of the northwest
quarter (~ 1/4) of Section 9; thence westerly, along said south
line, to the east line of Tract No. 1273, as shown on a map
thereof recorded in Book 39, page 2~ of ~iscellaneous ~aps,
Records of said County of Orange; thence northerly, along
said east line, to the north line of Lot 4 of said Tract No.
1273; thence westerly, along said north llne, to the west line
of said Lot 4; thence southerly, along said west line, to the
easterly prolongation of the north line of Lot l~ of s~d Tract
No. 1273; thence westerly, along said easterly prolongation and
said north line, to the west line of said Tract No. 1273; thence
southerly, along said west line, to the north line of Lot 14 of
said Tract; thence westerly, along the westerly prolongation of
the north line of said Lot 14, to the west line of the east 2.00
acres of the West half (W 1/2) of the northwest quarter (NV~ l/4)
of the northeast quarter (NE 1/4) of the northwest quarter (NW
l/4) of said Section 9; thence northerly, along said west line
and its northerly prolongation, to the existing boundary of said
City of Garden Grove; thence westerly, along said existing bound-
ary to the west line of Verano Street (60.'00 feet wide); thence

along said Easterly line to a line parallel with and 30 feet
southerly, measured at right angles, from the center line of
Smeltzer Avenue; thence easterly along last mentioned parallel
line to the southerly prolongation of the east line of Tract No.
1298 as shown on a map thereof recorded in Book 41, pages i and
2, Miscellaneous Maps~ Records of Orange County; thence northerly
along said southerly prolongation and along said east line to
the north line of the south one half (S 1/2), of the southeast
one quarter (SE 1/4) of the southeast one quarter (SE 1/4), of
Section 16; of said Township and Range; thence easterly along
said north line and its easterly prolongation, to the westerly
right of w~ line of the former Newhert Protection District right
of way for the chaunel of the Santa Ana River; thence northerly
along said west line of the former Newbert Protection District
right of way for the ch~nel of the Santa Ana River to the north
line of Fifth Street (60.00 feet wide); thence easterly along
said north line to its intersection with northeasterly prolongation
of the westerly line of the Berstein Fifth Street Annex as annexed
to the City of Santa Aha, October l, 19~6, by Ordinance NS-213;
thence southwesterly along said northeasterly prolongation to the
northwest corner of said Berstein Fifth Street Annex and to the
center line of said Fifth Street; thence easterly along the center
line of Fifth Street and along said City boundary to the center
line of King Street; thence in a general northerly direction ~ong
said City boundary of the City of Santa Ana to the point of be-
ginning.

at its regular meeting held on the 1st day of December,
