BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF ORANGE COUNTY TO HAVE PROPERTY
WITHIN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA EXCEPTED FROM THE LEVY OF
ANY ORANGE COUNTY TAX TO PROVIDE STRUCTURAL FIRE PROTECTION
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana is a ~unicipal Corporation
incorporated mud now existing under a~ d by virtue of a charter granted
uBxter the laws of the State of California; sad
¥~HEREAS, the City of San ta Ana lies in the County of Ors~ge in
the State of California, and does now provide adequate structural fire
protection to all property within the corporated limits of said City
by maintaining a Fire Department of outstanding excellence, modemly
equipped, and with trained, competent personnel under outstanding
leadership, which said Department has available to it a water system
with adequate reserves, maintained at very high tressure, circulated
through large trunk mains, all of which has resulted in the lowest
insurance rate available in any City or unincorporated area in this
vicinity; and
WHEREAS, Section 25643 of the Government Code of the State of
California provides for a petition supported by a Resolution to have
property in an area such as the City of Sm ta Ana excepted from the
levy of any tax for the purpose of providing structural fire protec-
tion on t he part of the County in which such area is located.
NOW, T~EREFO~, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the
City of Saata Ana hereby authorizes and directs a petition to be
presented to the Honorable Board of Supervisors of 0rauge County,
California, supported by a certified copy of this Resolution, as
provided for in Goverranent Code Section 25643, petitioning said County
to exclude all property within the City of Sm ta Ana, including the
property west of the Santa ~ua River, ar~exed to said City under the
name of "WEST SANTA AMA Ai,~JEX" by Ordinance i~o. NS-367, adopted ~iarch
23, 1959, and property in the southeasterly portion of Ssata Ana,
East of the t{iver, generally known as the Santa Ana Gardens &rea,
annexed to said City under the name of "Sulivsa and Edinger Annex",
by Ordinance i,~o. ~S-366, on ~arch 23, 19%9.
