NEXATION OF TE~RI'TORY TO 'THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, DESIGNATING
AN APPROPRIATE NAME OF "EDINGER A~D POPLAR SOUTH ANNEX" AND
GIVING NOTICE OF TIME AND PLACE OF REARING PROTESTS THt~HETO
WHEREAS, at the request of property owners in the territory
hereinbelow described, a description and map of said territory was
presented to the Santa Aha Planning Commission and said Commission
has approved the annexation of said territory and the Boundary
Commission of Orange County has approved said description as being
reasonably definite and certain;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the
City of Santa Ana hereby initiates proceedings for the annexation
of the real property herein described to said City for the follow-
ing reasons:
1. That the area can beat be served by the City of Santa Ana
with municipal services of the highest caliber anywhere obtainable.
2. That said territory would receive the greatest economic
benefit by becoming a part of the City of Santa Ana.
BE IT I~JRTHER RESOLVED: That the City Council hereby declares
its intention to annex all of the territory hereinbelow described
under the provisions of the Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act
of 1939 and hereby finds and declares that said territory is unin-
habited within the meaning of Government Code Section 35303 on the
date of the adoption of this Resolution; that said territory is
contiguous to the City of Santa Ana, lies in the County of Orange,
State of California and is described as:
Begin~ing at a point on the center line of Edinger Street
331.86 feet westerly from the intersection of the center
lines of Edinger Street and Bristol Street, said point of be-
ginning being the Northwest corner of the "Babylon Annexation",
annexed to.the City of Santa Ana, California, by Ordinance
Number NS-b2 on September 7, 1954; and running thence South
89v 29' 2%" West along said center line of Edinger Street and
along the city boundary of the City of Santa Ana, 1,202.14
feet to the Northerly extension of the West line of Lot 3 as
shown on a Record of Survey map filed in Book 3, page 29, Record
of Surveys in the Office of the County Recorder of Orange County,
California; thence departing from said city boundary South 00°
ll' 25" West along said west line of Lot 3 and its extension
659.64 feet to the Southerly line of the tract of land described
in deed to H. F. Rogers and wife dated September 6, 1927, and
recorded in Book 87, page 28 of Official Records of said Orange
County, and to the South line of said Lot 3; thence North 89°
35' 2~" East along said South line 15.00 feet more or less
to the East line of that certain property described as Parcel
i in deed to James A. Lukens and Florence B. Lukens dated
June 19, 1958, and recorded in Book 4351, page 238, Official
Records of said Orange County; thence Southerly along said East
line $58.14 feet more or less to said city boundary and to the
North line of Tract No. 2208, as shown on a map thereof
corded in Book 64, pages 23 and 24, Miscellaneous Maps, rec-
ords of said Orange County; thence Easterly along said city
boundary and along said North line to an angle point in said
city boundary said point being 974.16 feet Westerly from said
center line of Bristol Street, measured along said North line
and along the North line of Tract No. 2209,.as shown on a map
thereof recorded in Book 64, pages 25 and 2b, Miscellaneous
Maps, records of said Orange County; thence North 00vll' 55"
East along said city boundary 229.2~ feet to an angle point in
said city boundary; thence North 89 27' 40" East 974.16 feet
along said city boundary to an angle point in said city boundary
and to the center line of said Bristol Street; thence North 00°
ll' 55" East along said city boundary and aloD~ said center line
of Bristol Street to a point 649.44 feet Southerly (Measured
along said center line) from the intersection of the center
lines of Bristol Street and Edinger Street; thence South 89°
29' 25" West along said city boundar~ 331.86 feet to an angle
point in said city boundary; thence North 00° ll' 55" East
along said city boundary 649.44 feet to the center line of
Edinger Street and to the point of beginning.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That "EDINGER AND POPLAR SOUTH ANNEX"
is hereby designated as an appropriate name for said territory for
the purpose of this annexation. That said City Council hereby de-
clares its intention to and it will annex said territory to and in-
clude it within the Santa Arm School District, the Santa Aha High
School District and the Santa Ana Junior College District and upon
completion of this annexation said territory shall be and become a
part of said school districts.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN: That
July 20, 1959 at the hour of 7:30 P. M. in the Council Chambers, City
Hall, Third and Main Streets, Santa Aha, California, is the time and
place fixed at which said Council will hear protests against this
annexation made by any person owning real property within said ter-
ritory. At any time before said hour any owner of said territory
may file written protest against this proposed annexation. Such
protest must state the owner,s name and the description and area of
the property owned by him in general terms.
