SANTA ANA REQUESTING THE COUNTY (~ ORANGE
TO INCLUDE WITHIN THE ARTERIAL HIGHWAY
FINANCING PROGRAM TP~ D..~ziOPME~T OF
SUGAR
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Aha desires to improve Sugar Avenue
WHEREAS, Sugar Avenue is an important artery in the County of Orange and
of general County interest, and
~J~EAS, Article 2 and Article 3, Chapter 9. Division 2 of the Streets and
Highways Code authorizes a County. if it so desires, to expend funds apportioned
to it out of the California Highway Users Tax Fend for aid to any City in the
improvement, construction or repair of a street within a ~ity. and
WNEREA~, the Board of Supervisors intends to, by appropriate action, provide
in the County budget of the Special Road Improvement Fund for the Fiscal Year
1960-61 a sum oi' mc~ey for the improvement of streets within the incorporated
cities of the Coun~ in accordance with the Orange County Arterial Highway
Financing Program.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Santa Aha
hereby requests the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange to allocate to
said City from County Funds the amount of $35.100eO0, said amount to be matched
by funds fro~ said City, to be used to aid said City in the improvement of Sugar
Avenue from Harbor Boulevard to West City Limits, and for the acquisition of
necessary rights of way; said improvements and acquisition of rights of way to
be in accordance with the attached project statement;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange
is hereby requested to find that said work and acquisition of rights of way on
Smgar Avenue, in the manner provided, is in the general County interest.
BE IT FURTHER BESoLv~J That, by this Resolution, the City of Santa Aha agrees
with the basic concepts of the Arterial Highways Financing Program; and further
agrees that its share of the cost of improvements and rights of way will be
available for the fiscal year 1960-61.
