FOR ANNEXATION OF TERRITORY TO THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA, DESIGNATING AN APPROPRIATE
NAME FOR SAID TERRITORY OF "FAIRHAVEN AND
GLASSELL S.E. ANNEX" AND GIVING NOTICE OF
PROTEST HEARING THEREON
WHEREAS, at the request of the property owners in the terri-
tory herein described, a description and map of said territory were
presented to the Santa Ana Planning C~ission, which approved
annexation of said territory; to the Orange County Boundary
Commission, which caused a report to be prepared finding that the
boundaries of said proposed annexation met with the approval of
the Orange County Surveyor's Office in respect to Goverrunent Code
Section 35002; and to the Local Agency Formation C~Lission of
Orange County, which approved the same.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of
the City of Santa Ana hereby initiates proceedings for annexation
of said territory to the City of Santa Ana for the following reasons:
That said territory can best be served by the City of
Santa Ana with municipal services~ the highest quality
anywhere obtainable at a cost for such services which is
lower than can be obtained anywhere else in the County
of Orange.
That it is to the mutual advantage of the City and the
landowners that said territory become a part of said
City.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Council hereby declares
its intention to annex all of the territory hereinbelow described
under the provisions of the Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act
of 1939; hereby finds and declares that said territory is uninhabited
within the meaning of the Government Code Section 35303 on the date
of the adoption of this Resolution~ that said territory is contig-
uous to the City of Santa Ana, lies in the County of Orange, State
of California, and is described as:
Beginning at the intersection of the East line of Glassell
Street, said East line being 40 feet Easterly, measured at
right angles from the center line of said Glassell Street,
with a line that is parallel with and 801.9 feet North,
measured at right angles from the center line of Santa Clara
Avenue as said Santa Clara Avenue is shown on a map of land
annexed to the City of Santa Ana on July 17, 1961, by
Ordinance No. NS-524, said point of beginning being an angle
point in said NS-524 boundary; thence East along said
parallel line and along said NS-524 boundary 315 feet, more
or less, to the West line of Lot 38 in the Santa Ana Grand
Avenue Tract as shown on a map recorded in Book 26, page 53,
Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles County, California;
thence North along the West line of said Lot 38 and its
Northerly extension 1,399.96 feet to a point on the South
line of Fairhaven Avenue, said South line being 30 feet
South, measured at right angles from the center line of said
Fairhaven Avenue; thence West along said South line 770 feet,
more or less, to a point in a line the Northerly terminus of
which is 84.5 feet West of the Southwest corner of Lot 13
in Block "D" of the A. B. Chalanan Tract as surveyed by
Frank Lecouvreur in 1870; thence South along said last
mentioned line 250 feet to a line that is parallel with and
280 feet South, measured at right angles from the center
line of said Fairhaven Avenue; thence East along said
parallel line 240 feet, more or less, to a point in said
aforementioned East line of Glassell Street; thence South
12° 46' East along said East line 1,220 feet, more or less,
to the point of beginning.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That "FAIP/4AVENAND GLASSELL S.E.
ANNEX" is hereby designated as an appropriate name by which said
territory shall be known for the purpose of this annexation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That notice is hereby given that
June 15, 1964, at the hour of 7:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers,
City Hall, Third and Main Streets, Santa Ana, California, is the
time and place fixed at which said Council will hear written protests
against this annexation made by any person owning property within
said territory. At any time prior to the final adjournment of the
hearing on protests any owner of property within the territory may
file written protest against this annexation. The protest shall
state the name of the owner of the property affected and the street
address or other description of the property sufficient to identify
it on theLast equalized assessment roll, all as provided for in
California Government Code Section 35312.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa
Ana at its regular meeting held on the 20th day of April, 1964.
