~S, because of the rapid population gro~h in the Ci~
of Santa A~ it is necessa~ that additional parks be established
wi~in ~e City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of
the City of Santa Ana does hereby find and declare that the public
interest and necessity require the acquisition of land for public
park purposes; that fee title be~acquired for these park sites;
and further require that the City do have and acquire in fee that
certain land in the City of Santa Aha, County of Orange, State of
California, described as:
PARCEL 1: The East one-half of the following=
Commencing at the Northwest corner of Lot 9 in Block A
of the A. B. Chapman Tract, as surveyed by Frank Lecouvreur
in 1870, as shown on a Map recorded in Book 102, page 15
of Miscellaneous Maps, records of Orange County, California,
and running thence South 15.88 chains; thence West 6.29
chains; thence North 15.88 chains and thence East 6.29
chains to the place of beginning.
EXCEPTING THEREFROM that portion thereof included within
the following described property:
Beginning at a point in the Northerly line of the Davenport
Tract in said BlOck A, distant thereon North 89° 55' 25"
West 143.14 feet from the Northwest corner of Lot 9 in said
Block A; thence Southerly parallel with the Westerly line
of said Lot 9 South 0° 01' 17" West 212.00 feet; thence
Easterly parallel with said Northerly line South 89° 55'
25" East 263.76 feet; thence Northerly parallel with said
Westerly line North 0° 01' 17" East 212.00 feet to the
Northerly line of said Lot 9; thence Westerly along said
Northerly line of Lot 9 and said Northerly line of the
Davenport Tract North 89° 55' 25" West 263.76 feet to the
point of beginning.
PARCEL 2: The West 2.5 acres of the following:
Commencing at the Northwest corner of Lot 9 in Block A of
the A. B. Chapman Tract, as surveyed by Frank Lecouvreur
in 1870, as shown on a map recorded in Book 102, page 15
of Miscellaneous Maps, records of Orange County, California
and running thence South 15.88 chains; thence West 6.29
chains; thence North 15.88 chains and thence East 6.29
chains to the place of beginning.
PARCEL 3: The East 2.5 acres of the West one-half of the following:
Co~u~encing at the Northwest corner of Lot 9 in Block A of
the A. B. Chapman Tract, as surveyed by Frank Lecouvreur
in 1870, as shown on a Map recorded in Book 102, page 15
of Miscellaneous Maps, records of Orange County, California,
and running thence South 15.88 chains, thence West 6.29
chains; thence North 15.88 chains and thence East 6.29
chains to the place of beginning.
for a park site south of Santa Clara Avenue and West of Tustin
Avenue; and
PARCEL 4:
That portion of the land allotted to F. W. Koll in Decree
of Partition Of the Rancho Santiago de Santa Aha, recorded
in Book B of Judgments of the 17th Judicial District Court
of California, described as follows:
Beginning at a point distant South 89° 15' 09" West 546.60
feet and South 0° 34' 10" West 1320.01 feet from the center
line intersection of Standard Avenue and McFadden Street,
said point being the Northwesterly corner of land described
in a deed to the City of Santa Aha, recorded July 25, 1955
in Book 3150, page 217 of Official Records; thence South
0° 37' 15" West 1127.70 feet to the Southwesterly corner of
said land of the City of Santa Aha; thence North 89° 22' 45"
West 270.00 feet along the Westerly prolongation of the
Southerly line of said land of the City of Santa Aha to the
Westerly line of land described in a deed to A. H. Lyon
recorded Janua_ry 4, 1919 in Book 313, page 257 of Deeds;
thence North 0° 37' 15" East 1121.26 feet along said
Westerly line to the Southerly line of Tract No. 2626, as
shown on Map recorded in Book 86, pages 6, 7 and 8 of
Miscellaneous Maps, records of Orange County, California;
thence North 89~ 15' 09" East 270.08 feet along said
Southerly line to the point of beginning.
for a park site between Hobart Street and Edinger Avenue, West of
Standard Avenue.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
1. That the City Attorney is hereby ordered to bring an
action in the name of the City to condemn said property necessary
to be taken and to do all things necessary to prosecute said action
to final determination;
2. That the City of Santa Ana is authorized and e~powered
to acquire, develop, maintain and operate parks both within and
outside of the City;
3. That said public improvements are planned and located
in a manner which will be most c~patible with the greatest public
good and the least private injury;
4. That said action in condemnation shall be taken in
accordance with the provisions of the Code of Civil Procedure and the
Constitution of the State of California relating to exainent dcanain.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa
Ana at its regular meeting held on the 15th day of June, 1964.
