An Ordinance providing f~ the assessment of property and for the levy and collection of taxes by the county officers in, by and for the use 6f the of Santa Aha, for municipal purposes. The Board of Trustees of the City of Santa Ana do ordain as follows: Section 1. That the provisions of An Act of the legislature of the State of California, entitled "An Act to Provide for the Levy and Collection of Taxes by and for the Use of Municipal Corporations and Cities incorpor~.ted under the laws of the State of 0alifornia," except municipal corporations of the first-class, and to provide for the consolidation and abolution of certain municipal offices , and to provide that their duty may be performed by'certain officers of the County, and fixing the compensation to be allowed for the County officers for the sorvice so rendered to such municipal corporations," approved March B?,1896, and all Acts sm~endatory theroof and ammndator~thereto,shall apply to and be in force in the City of Santa Aha, from andafter the passage and publication of this Ordinance, and the Board of Trustees of said mity of Santa Ana does hereby elect to avail itself of the provisions of said Act and all Acts amendatory thereof and amendatory thereto. The Board of Trustees of said city shall fix by Ordinance the amount of n~oney necessary~to be raised by taxation upon t he taxable p~perty of said city as a re.hue to carry on the~rious depart- ments of said city for each ~urrent year, not to exceed the limit fixed by law, an~ to pay the Bonded Indebtedness of ss id city falling due during such current year, and the interest on the principal of said indebtedness, And said Board of Trustees of said city shall meet for that purpose on the first M~nt~ay' in August of each year, and shall at such meeting so ascertain and fix said amount, by an ordinance passed and adopted on said date. Section ~. The 0ounty Auditor of the ~ounty of Orange must, on or before the second Monday in August of each year transmit to the Board of Trustees of said city, a statement in writing showing the total values of all property within said city, as the same is equalized and corrected by the Board of Supervisors of said County. Section 4. The Board of Trustees of said city shall on the first Monday in September of each year, fix the rate of taxation designating the number of cents upon each One Hundred Dollars, ($100.~0) using as a basis the valme of the property as assessed by the County Assessor and so returned to such Board by the County Auditor as required by said Act and by Section 3 of this Ordinance; which rate of taxation sh~ll be sufficient to raise the mnount of money so fixed by said Board of Trustees as required by Section ~ of this ordinance; and all of which acts of said Board of Trustees, shall be and are hereby declared to be a valid assessment of said property, and a valid levy of said rates so fixed, and the Board of Trustees shall transmit to the County Auditor of said county of Orange, a statement of said rates i~ediately after they have been so fixed ~ said Board. Section 5. ~he County Auditor must then compute and enter in a separate column in the assessment book, to be headed "City Tax, City of ~anta Ana," the respective sums in dollars and cents to be paid as a municipal or city tax on the property therein enumerated and assessed as being in said municipal corporation or city, usin8 the rate of levy so limed by such Board of Trusteesof the oit}.~ of Santa Aha, and the assessed value as found in such assessn~ent book. Such taxes so levied shall be collected at the s~e tinge andin ~he same manner as state and county taxes; and when collected the net an~ount as ascertained by Section 6 of this act shall be paid to the Treasurer of the city of Santa Ana under the general requirements and penalties provided by law for the settlement of other taxes. Section 8. The County Auditor and County Tax Collector shall file with the Board of Supervisors itemized statements showing the additional expense .~ to their offices of assessing and collecting the ~ity taxesof the city of Santa Ana, and upon the filing of such statements the Board of Supervisors shall by an order spread upon theminutes, deduct such expenses from the taxes of said city of Santa Ana, while in the hands of the ,ounty Tax ~ollector , and transfer the same into the county salary fund$ provided that not more than one per centum shall be ~harged for collecti~g the first Twenty-five Thousand Dollars ($~5.00) so collecSed, and one-fourth of one per centum for all sums ove~ ~ amount. Section 7. Whenever the Board of Trustees of the city of Santa Ana shall have availed itself of the provisions of this act, all duties, other than the assessing of the property of said city, belonging to the office of the city Assessor shall be transferred to and performed by the Clerk of said City of Santa Aua; and all duties, other than the collecting of taxes, belonging to the office of City Tax Collector ~all be transferred to and be perforn~ed by the City Marshal of said city, and thereafter the office of City Assessor and City Tax Collector may be by ordinance abolished. Section 8. Whenover any real property situate in the city of Santa Aha after it has availed itself of the provisions of this act has been sold for taxes and has been redeemed, the money paid for such reden~tion shall be apportioned by the County Treasurer to said city of Santa Ana in the proportion which the tax due to said city bears to the total tax for which such real property was sold. Section 9. Ordinance No. 419 of the City of Santa Ana entitled: "An Ordinance providing for the assessn~ent of property and for the levy and collection of taxes in, by and for the use of the city of Sant~ Aha for n~unicipal purposes", and all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed, provided however, that this ordinance shall not a~fect the collection and sale of property for taxes for the fiscal year 1914-15. Section 10.
